Storm King has worked hard to create a safe environment to enjoy the fantastic sculpture and beautiful countryside. The park is always great but even more so as I appreciated being able to contemplate art while feeling safe. We bought the box lunches that were delicious and nice to have picnic tables nearby. Maps were available near Museum Hill - definitely helped,

Had an amazing hike here. Total trail distance is around 4 miles. Trail can be slightly difficult at times if you have limited mobility. Elevation range is from start 900 ft to 1372 ft at the top with a total elevation gain of around 771 ft. Total hiking time was 3 and a half hours with about 2 hours total in moving time. The views at the top and sitting areas are perfect for a picnic, date, family outing, exercise and great for dogs. We saw probably 14 dogs on our hike. Parking is a little bit of a hassle with the trailhead entrance and lot located directly off of the highway. But if you get there early or on a weekday you’re guaranteed to get a spot. Everyone maintained great COVID distancing and wore appropriate face coverings when required.

Definitely learn from my mistakes….. we went after a few very story days and the bugs were out - bug spay would have been good and sun tan lotion. A hat, water, and good comfortable shoes - ready to launch. Split the map in half and bring a snack or lunch for the middle.
Fantastic views with interesting sculptures. We enjoyed also the QR code listening as we arrived at the sculptures. Enjoy!

We basically drove thru this park. We loved the curvy mountain drive. Stopped at one pull over for fantastic views. Did the drive twice. Beautiful rock ledges, formations and forest.

My wife and I have spent many days on the trails in Storm King State Park this Fall 2020. Our first adventure took us around to the eastern side of the Park because of the crowds filling the other parking areas. We hiked from the eastern side up to the views over Cold Spring on the Crow's Nest and then on to the ridge directly across from Storm King. Then we hiked from the Storm King school side up to Butter Hill and back one day--also with fantastic views. Finally we made the hike from Cornwall up the northern slope to the summit of Storm King for glorious views of the Hudson River and the Hudson Highlands. Treat yourself to these trails and you will love the days spent there.

Spectacular views of Hudson River valley and Catskills beyond There are several trailheads for Storm King Mountain; you can start at elevation from route 9W or do the complete climb from Mountain Road or Route 218 You can easily hike for a half day or a full day. Then enjoy nearby pleasures such as kayaking on the Hudson River, visiting Storm King Sculpture Park, West Point, and the eateries and B&Bs in Cornwall-on-Hudson and Newburgh

This park is not really well known: there is no information booth or large parking areas but the highlight of this park(my opinion) is the summit of Storm King mountain. The trails are well marked and there are three main parking lots, the biggest on 9W and the smallest on Mountain rd. It is helpful to have a map or app to help navigate the trails.

This was my second visit to Storm King. First time was on a July day with record heat. Thrilled to return on a beautiful autumn day. It was Columbus Day weekend, so we expected crowds. We arrived shortly after it opened, so didn't have a long wait in line. The park is so enormous, that even though it was very busy for the staff, it never felt crowded. Grabbed a hot dog from the food truck on the way out - very inventive toppings and great service.
The enormous scale of the sculpture collection is most impressive. Great place for art lovers and those who want to spend time outdoors.

HI I a little confused, if we visit the state park, are we able to view the sculptures without the $18 museum entry fee? thank you, all the best - Amir

I believe as another poster mentioned, some posters have miss filed their reviews for the art center in this thread. This attraction says strom king state park! and not art center

I am thinking of hiking the mountain at Storm King this Saturday. The temps will be in the 30s. Has anyone been there lately? We're thinking it certainly won't be crowded! Thanks.
