This is one of the nicest state parks I have ever been to.

This sits at the top of Otsego Lake, which is a glacier formed lake with beautiful blue water, almost like the Caribbean waters. The park is very clean, with lots of picnic tables, a boat ramp, pavilions and camp grounds, and a swimming area. The glimmer glass comes into play when the sun reflects off the calm lake. Everything was... More

There are not many beaches around this otherwise beautiful lake, so we brought our 4 and 1 year olds here for an afternoon. They enjoyed the playground and the beach. We would like to have had time for a hike, but it rained early in the day and we got here late and the children were having too much fun.

We stayed at Glimmerglass last minute. Luckily we were able to get a primitive site. Staff pleasant and helpful. The park is lovely. However, some things would be very helpful in their site brochure: generator hours, where to put trash for overnight guests (it is not very obvious - only a small trash can at dump station), and a reminder... When we booked the campground sight unseen in January, we considered it to be for a base camp for the area only. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The camp sites are open but sufficiently separated so that you don't feel like you are on top of each other. The kids are everywhere and pick up games of basketball... More

We stayed 3 nights. We brought bikes but really could have walked everywhere in the park. Very clean and neat. We had electric only site. It was really nice with trees and level ground. Very convenient to go to Cooperstown. About 15 minute drive. Groceries and shopping are in town. A bit further than I like. The ride up to... More

Even if you're not a beach or boat person, there are many things you should be able to do here, such as stroll along the lake, take pictures of the lovely scenery and wild flowers, visit the historic Hyde Hill mansion (which is being restored) and walk over to the covered bridge, which is the oldest of its kind in... Stayed here for the first time w/my wife as we ventured into NY State for a camping trip. Glimmerglass is a wonderful surprise...well maintained, impeccable grounds and helpful/pleasant staff made this one of our (new) favorite campground to stay at. Mostly filled by older couples with a mix of pop ups to big rigs, it was quiet (day n night),... More

Just returned yesterday from a 3 night stay at Glimmerglass State Park. Wide open spacious site....plenty big enough for our 34 ft Class A motor home. The staff and grounds crew are meticulous about keeping this place spotless. Every morning the bathrooms and showers are cleaned and dusted (yes, dusted) to remove any cobwebs that may have been constructed overnight.... More

We stopped here on our way to Cooperstown. It was nice to get in some exercise after several hours in the car. There are a few trails - Sleeping Lion was a good distance with enough elevation increase to give a bit of a workout. There is also a swimming beach area that could be nice to check out. Also... What an immaculately maintained park. Bring your bikes or just go for a stroll. We enjoyed a bike ride and some quiet time lakeside. There's plenty of parking. A family could have a great day for the $7 entry fee. Bring your suit and enjoy the beach.
