About
The Tagua Nut Gift Shop & Café is a gift shop that buys Fair Traded products from Artisans in many different countries. Most products come from the Andes & Coastal Regions of Ecuador. We also feature products crafted by our very own Local Artisans in and around Schoharie County. We expanded the gift shop into a coffee & deli café in December of 2015. We are now serving breakfast sandwiches & lunch menu items! We offer "all natural" deli meat sandwiches, vegetable paninis, fresh bakery items, soups & sides. We continue to be the "go to" place for all your gift-giving needs. Stop by & check out our wide assortment of Alpaca blankets, scarves, hats, gloves, ponchos and socks! We also serve Dean's Beans Organic & Fair Traded Whole Bean coffee. Coffee is available for purchase & can be ground FRESH for you! Join us for lunch!

This store is cute and has scarfs, hats, mittens etc. made from Alpaca fur. Very warm. Nice jewelry also. It is also a nice place for lunch. Sandwiches and teas. I liked the sandwich I had and the service was great. Little shop. Nice people.

The food and coffee were delicious and the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming! I went for lunch and the the homemade mushroom soup was amazing! The gift shop was wonderful if you are looking for some unique gifts. The owners sell “direct trade” clothing and jewelry handcrafted by artisans from Ecuador, South America. I shopped for myself and did some Christmas shopping too!

Two men that came in after us received their food first which was ours, the girl got it wrong. The men ate not even knowing they received the wrong order. Then we waited 45 mins. The men ate and were gone by the time we received our food. Was told by the staff, "we are sorry the men ate your food all while laughing telling us. So the men received a free meal for not getting what they ordered and they took it home cause they already ate the food given them. And we paid full price waited 45 mins. got nothing but an I'm sorry. They could of at least gave us desert or a cookie even.

We went there for lunch after going to Howe Caverns. I would highly recommend this cafe. The food was excellent, all freshly made and a good assortment of choices. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Kid friendly. Great little gift.

I drive by two Stewart’s Shoppes, a Dunkin Donuts, and a MobilMart in order to get a cup of “Ahab’s Revenge,” and a bacon, egg, Swiss and tomato on an English muffin! Actual eggs, too. The coffee was free (I do the coffee club thing), but even with the cost of my java, it would have only been 6 bucks and change. Real food, excellent coffee, cheap. Wonderful stuff in the gift shop.

Of the half dozen times I’ve visited Tagua nut, I can’t say that I’ve ever been disappointed. From the outside, it appears just as quaint and simple of an establishment as most of the businesses in cobleskill. Upon entering, however, you are met with the aromatic embrace of fresh brewed coffee. Adorning the walls are various gifts, trinkets, holistic items, and different foods and treats that are all organically made and many of which are sourced from South America. The staff is always very welcoming, and friendly.
Although, their business model clearly revolves around selling organic products, the atmosphere at Tagua Nut is very welcoming and far from the atmosphere that one could expect to find in organic coffee shops in larger or more urban areas such as Albany or New York City.
They offer a menu of breakfast and lunch foods that one might expect to find at a cafe restaurant. All the food is made same day, and is made with fresh ingredients, most of which they source the day of. My go-to is always an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a bagel with a coffee, which costs the same as what you might pay at a fast-food restaurant for breakfast but tastes far better. The other added convenience is that you can call and place your order ahead of time if you’re in a rush and they’ll have it made for you when you get there.
I have been a customer since their grand opening, and the same excellent customer service and consistency that they offered from day one, is still one of the reasons that I continue to go back again and again.
Overall, I love this place. Mostly for the excellent food and the atmosphere and also for the fact that even though it’s freshly made organic food, that it’s still reasonably priced. I’d recommend it to anyone that enjoys cafe style eating/coffee and not just to those who specifically seek out organic coffee shops. As a customer, all I could ever ask for in a restaurant is that the staff is friendly, welcoming, and attentive; the food tastes good and is fresh; and that the establishment is clean and has an inviting atmosphere. The owner and staff at Tagua Nut clearly all take pride in what they do, because they have consistently proven since their grand opening that they excel at all of those things that I described above.
