I have visited this world class boat museum for many years and I never tire of it. It is home to one of the best collections of fresh water boats in the world. Having grown up water-skiing behind an old Chris Craft boat in California, I'm especially partial to the Chris Craft collection. Don't miss the outstanding collection of vintage... More

For our 60th wedding anniversary, I wanted to select some place to go that hubby would love. As we have had a boat all our married life and he loved the old wooden boats, I found on the net just the place that was not too far to travel and had very nice accommodations. The Wooden Boat Museum was just... More

Very impressive museum. I am a collector of antique outboard motors and 50s-60s runabout boats. I assumed that this museum would be rather basic. I was pleasantly surprised to see what a great job they have done in making the displays interesting for the general public, and yet in depth enough for the less casual visitor.

Well worth spending 2-3 hours exploring all elements of this multiple-building museum that's been a source of local pride in Clayton for years. Woodies from small to 40'+ are in a dedicated area, and are simply works of boatbuilders' art. The human-powered (canoes, sailboats, guide boats) building was fascinating. If there was a disappointing part of the museum, it was... More

The other reviews nail this one. This is definitely a national treasure and an incredible exhibit(s). The boats in the exhibits have been beautifully restored and are shown in a way that illustrates the evolution of various types of vessels (canoes, speedboats, etc.) as well as delving into the history of boating on the St.Lawrence River. If one is anywhere... More

If you're anywhere near Clayton, NY, make sure this is on your list. Allow at least 1.5 to 2 hrs. If you're a real boat aficionado you might want to plan for 2-3 hrs. There are several buildings with dozens of boats to look at, some you can board and really get a good look. Canoes, race boats, pleasure craft,... More

Only a visit can describe the breadth and quality of this small museum. Very well maintained and fascinating. Don't miss the illustrations by the famed Dr. Seuss!

This place sounded very interesting and lived up to its billing. They got a fabulous collection. You have to love the craftsmanship of the boat builders. Highly recommend it!

When I was growing up in the Beaches in Toronto, I loved to venture along the boardwalk that framed Lake Ontario and peer into the Balmy Beach Canoe Club's storage area with its magnificent aromas from their lustrous wooden boats. I was reminded of that wonderful childhood sensuous experience with a visit to Conroy, New York's spectacular Antique Boat Museum... More

The museum is very nicely curated and organized... it has a lot of fully restored boats and the way it's displayed is very interesting. It includes the boat built & used by Geo. Boldt, whose castle you can also visit while in the area. The best part of our visit was a speedboat that took us around for 45 minutes... More
