About
Clarence Historical Museum features artifacts and collections about the Town of Clarence New York as the first town in Erie County in 1808. These artifacts include one room schools, toys, local business, and old farming equipment. Unique to our museum is the original Wilson Greatbatch workshop where he invented the Implantable Cardiac Pacemaker. This exhibit has his prototypes and testing equipment

Great place to learn about this town and early days in WNY. We filmed a show for WBBZ called Discover Clarence and historian Doug Kohler showed us through. Wonderful experience!

The Museum has been updated and now has a welcoming Visitors Center as you enter. The Greatbatch Exhibit has many of its artifacts on the 1st floor now so those who cannot climb stairs may see many of Wilson Greatbatch's pacemakers, and other inventions. His workshop is still intact upstairs as this is his barn where he worked on inventing the 1st pacemaker. It was moved to the Museum site in the 1990's. There is also early farm tools, school, military, and Glezen Fillmore exhibit - the Methodist Preacher, circuit rider from Clarence, NY who was a 1st cousin to Pres. Milllard Fillmore - come see the other exhibits also ----- the Admission is Free, but donations are welcome.

The Clarence Historical Society and Museum is a cool resource to the area. There is way more going on inside than you would initially think. It’s like a time capsule with relevant Western NY memorabilia, including commerce, military history, famous people (Greatbach and others), etc. The log cabin on the lot (which was moved here from another spot in Clarence) is really cool and can be toured as well. Be sure to check their hours, as they operate on a limited schedule.

This museum has so much to look at and enjoy. Exhibits depicting the early days of the town of Clarence NY.
I enjoyed the huge variety and realized when leaving that I would have to visit again. So many things to see that are interesting and fun to look at. I love this museum.

We were able to spend just under an hour enjoying a trip back into the history of Clarence. It was nice and had some really cool interesting facts about the area.

My family and I were fishing at Clarence park when we stumbled across the museum. It has a great collection with very friendly staff. Admission is free. A great place for history buffs and eveyone in between!

This is a must stop if you're interested in one of the oldest towns in the WNY area. The museum is filled with artifacts, many of which have been donated by residents, and gives visitors a wonderful opportunity to view the history of this area.

one of the better hotel experiences I've had, especially with the circumstances and traveling with the entire family.
