We stumbled on this place by accident and are so glad we did. The video and self guided tour through the original site (some original items and some recreations) were wonderful to experience.

we discovered this wonderful place during our bike ride on the Erie Canal tow path trail. So amazing to see this little piece of American, and canal, history. So glad we rode far enough to make this discovery. A must visit for history buffs.

Very informative and well maintained museum. I enjoyed learning about the history of the canal as it pertains to the Chittenango area. This is a Must-See when in the area!

Enjoy this museum if you get the chance. In town for my husband's blacksmith meeting at the museum and enjoyed myself with lots to see. Great for anyone that enjoys history

One of several canal related museums, but this one focuses on the boats used on the Erie Canal so long ago.

Very informative. All the artifacts were amazing. The tour guides knew they're subject, BUT a couple of them could be friendlier. In fact the school bus was late and the first tour guide must have spent 10 minutes telling us that and why we lost...More

This museum, adjacent to the Old Erie Canal bike trail, included a short video, excavations, several buildings with many artifacts, and wonderful information for a self-guided walking tour.

We have just returned from visiting this very interesting site. It truly is a hidden gem. There is a self-guided tour but thankfully Ken, one of the museum's employees, escorted us around the site telling us how the landing was unearthed due to a local finding...More

A unique view of the Erie canal and the people around it. You can see a section of the original "ditch", some dry locks and the inside of a canal boat.
