The bookstore has been a favorite of myself and my family for over 30 years. It is a " must stop" every year and it never disappoints! Unfortunately, it is located inside of the Institution, but it still is worth all of the hassle and Hell it takes to get in.

We loved this bookstore on our recent stay. They have a wide variety of books written by local authors as well as books written about Chautauqua itself. Large selection of fiction and non fiction too! We really enjoyed the gifts we were able to purchase there for our grandchildren due to the diversity of fun games, etc. Really this store... More

This place reminded me of a fabulous college bookstore. Everything your mind and heat desires to enhance your Chautauqua experience. It is large, carries a great selection of books, jewelry, journals, mementoes, souvenirs toys, games . Etc, etc etc all you could ever imagine and all in good taste, no junk here. An adjoining cafe offers light refreshments, lots of open... More

This is a gem in a crown that is Chautauqua Institution! The Manager and staff are extremely knowledgable, helpful and most cordial. As a year-round facility they can be counted on for having something for most everyone from the most recent CLCS reading list books to great great things for the grandkids.

I always find it rewarding to enter a bookstore that stocks the books you have in your own bookcase at home. This was for me the case with this store (except for all the Christian books they stocked). It also improves the chances of finding book I would like (which I did). The bookstore is not very big though, but... More

The place to go for a select range of books, clever greeting cards, writing supplies, jewelry, scarves, straw hats, games, Chautauqua Institution t-shirts, and more. Anyone with a fond desire to take home a souvenir of idyllic summer days will want to take a peek before heading home. Great place to get a head start on the holiday gift season.

We visited the Chautauqua Bookstore while staying at the Athenaeum Hotel as part of a pre-season Road Scholar trip to Chautauqua. This bookstore has any- and everything you might want or need...books related to the Institution and the speakers' topics as well as wonderful selections for children of all ages, plenty of clothing items, souvenirs of all kinds, beautiful scarves,...
