I am a local and have been skiing Royal for decades. It's small family mountain with 3 Chair lifts, Several trails, from beginner slope for learning to expert trails and off piste woods to ski too! Big lodge with snack bar (serve yourself Chicken soup- don't like carrots- don't take any) Very friendly! Summers there is Moto Cross, Hill climb w/dirt bikes etc. One of the best Moto courses in the country seeing all the awards on the wall at the Velcro Lounge. If you ski make a trip over. Only open weekends and holidays..

My daughter and I skied here twice this season and LOVED both days. The staff is VERY friendly, the price for the lift tickets are very reasonable, and the rentals are quick, good quality, and also reasonably priced. The mountain is beautiful and the trails are well cared for. It is a small mountain, but there's plenty of challenges for the beginner to advanced skier (really advanced skiers may get bored). The lodge is warm and cozy. Probably one of upstate New York's best kept little secrets, Royal Mountain is well worth a visit.

Went with the family this past President's weekend. The kids and I purchased a learn to ski package which included rental equipment, lift tickets and lesson. The instructors were super friendly. The hill was never crowded although it was a holiday weekend. I really liked the fact that you could take a lift as opposed to one of those "carpet" type things to get yo the top of the hill. The kids did great! (I on other hand different story) We ate breakfast and lunch and had a couple of adult beverages. The prices are extremely reasonable. I highly recommend this place if you find yourself in the area.

Very nice place for kids to learn how to ski. Bunny slope ticket price allows for parents to ski with their kids as they learn how to ski without having to pay full price for a lift ticket when they are spending the day on the bunny slope.
