Great Swamp Conservancy is a nature center with pathways outside through the meadow, woods, and swampy areas. You'll want to wear your boots! Bring your binoculars for wildlife viewing. Trails are opened throughout the day. You probably won't be able to get through the areas with a stroller or wheelchair. No fee. They also offer educational programs through the year and have Spring and Fall Migration Festivals.

We were there last week for a Folksmarch, our first visit. Enjoyable walk. Lots of educational signs and handouts. Environmentally conscious folks, nature lovers and hikers will enjoy this place. I'd like to see it more publicized - it could become the type of resource Beaver Lake is.

Very nice people at the visitor center. We loved the boardwalk area. Many herons were nesting and were quite active.

Take a short drive North of Canastota right on Main St. We visited during their Annual Great Fall Migration Fest...Live Animals, wagon rides, chicken BBQ, old tyme fiddle music, fine arts & crafts, raffles of goody baskets and the Lady Bug Cafe. They teach photography & drawing classes & Yoga classes, too! Take a hike and bring your camera. Fun for Young and Old! The volunteers make this place so special! Everyone here is SO HAPPY! It will lift your spirits to come here!!!
