Drive through during the rain!
Jul 2021
Friends took us on a Lake Erie winery tour & we drove through to take a look. Since it was pouring rain, they didn't charge us for our drive through. The camping spaces looked large & well maintained with good access to the lake. Would love to come back & camp!

Pretty Little Park BUT
Jun 2021
We decided to camp over near family instead of getting a hotel this time around. First we arrived about 10 minutes before one and were told that the earliest we could get in was 2 pm so we could just go over to the picnic area and wait. We camp only in State Parks and all the ones that we camp at are very good about letting you get on your site early if your spot is free. Well if you have to be off at 10 a.m. why wouldn't your spot be free. He explained that was so they could clean the firepit and mow the grass. Great, I'm good with that. So the young man went and checked something and came back and said your spot is ready so I'm going to let you go in. Well the grass was not mowed and the firepit was not cleaned out. No big deal we will grab the firepit cleaners when they come around. The lawnmower guy was mowing and actually was driving by our spot when we waved him down and said he could mow and we moved the car and the kayaks out of the way for him. We are very appreciative of both young men that accommodated us. The bad part of the stay was that whenever we tried to run the air conditioner the breaker at the campground power source kept tripping so no air conditioning for the weekend and the bathrooms had a lot to be desired. Kind of clean just not what I expected since the ones we visit every year are very clean and up-to-date. Put a plastic bench outside your showers instead of a piece of wood that gets all slimy and gross that you don't want to set anything on it. Will we go back, absolutely as it close to family and cheaper then a hotel/motel and it is a beautiful little park.

Average Campground, nothing special
Jul 2020 • Family
Stayed here for one night. Average campground, very wide open with little privacy. Bathrooms were not very clean, and garbage was far from the campground which made a long walk. The “Beach” was all rocks and not great to hang out/swim. Fields were big and open and well cut. Overall a good experience, but nothing special.

This is an absolutely beautiful park! The lake view is excellent. Camping, hiking, biking, swimming, they have it all.

Clean and quiet in September
Sep 2019
Driving through the area, we decided to stop for a picnic lunch. We parked in front of one of the pavilions. Had a nice, quiet lunch. The younger kids played on the play equipment and the older kids went down to the beach and investigated the rocky shoreline. Caught a glimpse of a red-headed woodpecker to the delight of one of our party. We meant to spend 30 minutes for lunch, ended up staying for almost 2 hours.

First visit to Lake Erie
Jul 2017 • Family
Campground was very crowded, but surprisingly quiet. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the restrooms and bathhouses could have used more attention. We will be returning!

Fall drive along route 5
Sep 2016 • Friends
Lake Erie State Park is on Route 5 that runs along Lake Erie in N.Y. I stop here because it's a scenic area on the water and offers some nice views. I've never camped or stayed here but I always stop when driving through instead of taking the Thruway up to the Falls

Nature at its finest.

There are wooded hiking trails to take. Nice playgrounds for kids. Park roads mostly flat for easy biking. Saw rabbits, squirrels, owl, and many birds.

Would like to know why they don't clean bathrooms and fill toilet paper or hand soap dispensers. Have camped here over 30 years and this is first time to see this. They have a new park ranger and not doing a very good job at this. The cleaned them this morning and still hand soap empty
