The Hunt family has been farming west of Branchport, NY, on Keuka Lake for seven generations and started the winery in 1981. Our 170-acre farm encompasses 43 acres of wine grapes. The varieties under our care include Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Seyval Blanc, and Vignoles. We are the oldest continuous producer of genuine ice wine in the United States. Our wines have been served at the United Nations, ordered by the White House, featured in Food & Wine and on NBC's Today Show. We have nearly eliminated our fossil fuel use for heating, cooling and electricity by installing award-winning geothermal and solar systems. Our goal is to farm and make wine in ways that ensure the health of our land, water, and air for future generations.

Great place to start the Keuka lake wine tour

Nice tasting room with a good selection of wines with other local food items available + a cafe if you are in the mood for a light meal.

Family of seven of us (with 11 and 13 year olds) went on a quiet Wednesday at 1 pm. We read that they did tours and requested to have a tour from the young woman at the tasting counter. She was very nice and suggested we do our tasting first. Wine was very good and the young girls got yummy... More

The New cafè at Hunt Country Vineyards is amazing. I went with my great uncle and aunt. The room was a rustic modern decor that is in the original building where the Hunt Family started making the winery years ago. The food was plated beautifully with eatable flowers. I had the "Grilled Ham & Camembert Cheese on Sour Dough. It... More

We had a blast. Everyone was fun, which made this a great stop. I bought some cheese out of the cooler and some crackers. We were getting hungry. The cheese was Gouda. 😋

Hi Brent, I'm so glad you have a good time on your visit! I'm sure the staff will appreciate reading your comments. The cheese you enjoyed is an Aged Gouda from Jake’s Farmhouse Cheese Co. in Deansboro, NY. It's one of many fantastic farmstead cheeses made in New York that we feature in our special Cheese & Wine Tasting, paired... More

We had an awesome wine tour with Jim, who was very knowledgeable and showed us the production process and facility. We tasted the range of wines which are really varied with a lot of drys and sweets - and had some tastes of great local varieties too which you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. The ice wines and... More

Amber, it was nice of you to visit and thanks for the kind words! We are very lucky to be able to offer tours of the winery. People really seem to enjoy seeing the facilities up-close and learning the basic steps in producing wine. We're delighted you enjoyed our Vignoles and Icewine. And thanks for all the great questions and... More

Hunt Country must be on your list of wineries to visit in Seneca lake. There are regular wine tastings for a couple dollars and also pairings with cheese for a few dollars more. The tasting facility is nice and they have a great gift shop with lots of neat wine type stuff. Love it. Now, the wines are all great... More

Thank you for your review! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the Cream Sherry, a favorite of mine, several of our staff, and many customers. We take particular pride in our relaxed and helpful service. We always enjoy the wines and the family operated winery that started a few generations ago as simply a farm. The only thing that kept me from rating this as excellent was the pourer. He was a stiff. No personality. We were the only ones there early on a Saturday morning in February, but no real effort to connect with... More

I couldn't agree more with you that "a friendly engaging pourer ... turns a very good wine experience into an excellent one." I'm very sorry that this aspect of your visit was disappointing, because it's extremely important to us. I have shared your comments with the staff and plan to discuss them at our biggest training course of the year... More

We knew very little about Hunt Country, but we stopped in since they participate in the passport program. The host incredibly friendly and went out of her way to answer our questions and make sure we had a good experience. Their wines tended to be on the sweet side for my taste, but I enjoyed trying their sherry--there aren't a... More

Thanks very much for stopping in! I'm so glad you found the service friendly and informative. I wish we could have had more of our dry wine portfolio for you to taste. Sales were brisk this year and we are out of stock of several. If you are back in the area next year, please do stop in. We'd love... More

Hunt Country charges far less for wine tasting but offers fabulous wines. We like the Alchemy red and their semi-dry Riesling and Vidal Blanc ice wine. The gift shop stocks the most locators products of any winery we visited in-around Keuka Lake. Staff are educated and engaging. Keep up the great job!! We will be back!!

Thanks for coming and for your review! You choose our top-selling wine (Alchemy), our most versatile white wine (Semi-Dry Riesling) and our most famous wine (Vidal Blanc Ice Wine). THREE stars! I'm so glad you enjoyed the visit and plan to return. Please ask for me when you do -- it would be nice to meet you. More
