About
The Hunt family has been farming west of Branchport, NY, on Keuka Lake for seven generations and started the winery in 1981. Our 170-acre farm encompasses 43 acres of wine grapes. Recipients of the 2020 Sustainability Award from the New York Wine & Grape Foundation. We are the oldest continuous producer of genuine ice wine in the United States. Our wines have been served at the United Nations, ordered by the White House, featured in Food & Wine and on NBC's Today Show. We have nearly eliminated our fossil fuel use for heating, cooling and electricity by installing award-winning geothermal and solar systems. Our goal is to farm and make wine in ways that ensure the health of our land, water, and air for future generations.

Winemaker Craig Hosbach is a friend of ours, so we're prejudiced. Craig makes some absolutely wonderful wines, and he's experimenting with wines outside the normal scope of winemaking. We particularly enjoy Hunt Country's Cab Franc, Dry Rieslings, and Cab Franc Roses.

Spent some time talking with him (social-distanced of course) talking how CO-VID has affected the industry and what the future holds for the same. Really appreciate his insight on all matters affecting the industry.

The tasting room and outside seating areas are following CDC protocols. At the time we visited, the Cafe wasn't open. Knowing this we packed a picnic lunch and took advantage of the socially-distanced picnic tables on the property. We've visited when the Cafe was closed, but have it on good authority that it's one of the best places to eat on Keuka Lake.

We enjoyed a girl’s weekend in the finger lakes region and found this gem. Sunny fall day tasting a variety of good wines on picnic tables between the rows of grapes. Scenic views, fun staff & very accommodating. Would enjoy another trip back soon!

This was about as pleasant an experience as you could get for an afternoon lunch. We brought our own picnic food and signed up for the flight tasting. There were not many people there at the time and we easily found a vacant picnic table on their porch. We pulled out our food and the flight of wine arrived just as we were getting ready to eat. The wines themselves were quite good and we found ourselves liking nine out of the eleven samples (and of course we bought a case to take home). It was a beautiful summer day with a nice breeze. We enjoyed the scenic view of their vineyard and the distant surrounding hills while we ate. Servers were very attentive and polite. A perfect luncheon as far as we were concerned.

Nice winery located close to Keuka Lake. They were attentive and had a few options for tastings. We choose the self guided tasting since it was early and we figured it would be nice to get outside before it got hot. The server was very nice and said that if we had any questions she could answer them. I liked how they were open at 10:30 as many in the area open later. We will visit again.

I've visited Hunt Country Vineyards more than any other vineyard in the Finger Lakes. The food is outstanding, the wines are sustainably produced and wonderful, the vineyard is gorgeous, they host a variety of interesting workshops (I took a primitive furniture building workshop there and missed out on a stone wall building class) and the family has lived and worked the land for seven generations. Their dedication to sustainable is visible from the solar panels to the geothermal technology. Wish there were more vineyards like this everywhere.

Sought of out of the way from other wineries, no music, limited food, no lake view, good but expensive ice wine. Staff was friendly and professional. The ice wine is sold in a smaller bottle. I was Surprised that we were not given the glasses.

Best priced wine tasting, $3 for 5 wines. They have a great variety of dry to sweet wines. I ended up buying 6 bottles of their wines which have some great flavors and blends. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, plenty of parking and even charging stations for electric cars. They are green friendly with solar energy also. Great recommendation and should be on your list of wineries to visit.

I attended the Northeast Jazz and Wine Festival in Syracuse this past weekend. I visited the wine tasting tent to check it out before I paid for the tastings. Was very pleased to see all local NYS wineries. I went back on Saturday night and found out that Hunt Country left the festival at the beginning of the Saturday night tastings. When I inquiried about why they left I was told they left because they did not " sell enough bottles of wine to make it worth our while" was the reason they told me. How unprofessional can they be - I always thought that attendence at a festival like that was to promote their name - I am sure there were many people whom had never heard of them before that. Seems like they felt they were bigger abd better than the festival - another case of non-business people trying to run a business.

While back in the Finger Lakes for a girls weekend, we ended up at Hunt Country Vineyards. It was not my first time nor will it be my last. Great wine, wish I could get it in PA! Just down the road from the vineyard is a lovely farm that sells grape pies, grapes and pie filling in the fall. By far the best grape pie around!!

I have been to Hunt Country before on a large wine tour; but I wanted to experience it again in a smaller group. I am glad to have stopped there with my mother-in-law and my husband's visiting aunt over the 4th of July weekend. It was an intimate affair and we were welcomed immediately. We decided upon the new cheese and wine pairing; which was delicious. I would recommend it. We each took home 2 bottles of wine. My husband and I have always loved Hunt Country wine and actually going to to vineyard really makes you love it even more!

I'm so glad you enjoyed your return visit to Hunt Country! It was nice of you to bring family along. We introduced the cheese & wine tasting last year. It's such a pleasure for us to present the amazing range of delicious farmstead cheeses produced locally. Thanks so much for your purchase and for taking the time to write such a nice review!
