I did the tour of the middle Village. I don’t feel like I saw much of the village at all. We visited three areas in the village, and my guide stood and talked to me for about 20 minutes at each spot. It was much more talking than I wanted, and much less touring than I wanted. Also, the old mission church, which is the most scenic part of the Pueblo, is closed because of the deteriorating condition, so you cannot go inside and see the murals. There are much more picturesque pueblos to visit. However, the guide’s talk was very interesting, I did learn quite a bit about Zuni history and mythology.

Our tour guide, Fernando was awesome! He gave a thorough background into culture, beliefs and history all in one. He answered all questions well and was helpful and a lot of fun. Tour is not too long or involved and really gives you a good sense of where you are and what you are experiencing.

The Middle Village Walking Tour was informative and our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. However, it would be better described as a “visit.” Because the mission church is closed for restoration, the ceremonial plaza is the only true stop on the tour. If you have time, the archaeological tour might be a better value.

Kenny is a tribal Shaman and professional archaeologist with a wealth of information to share that is mind boggling. He took my husband and I on a two person tour (the first of the day) and we left with a tremendous appreciation for his cultural heritage. We hope to return soon and hire him for a day long immersion into Zuni history and the archaeology of the region.

I don't even know where to start with this. Kenny is the Zuni Fire God Shaman, a 30 year archaeologist and a Stanford grad. The hour long lesson on Zuni Theology was absolutely mind blowing and to be honest, one of the best parts of our entire trip... All for a measly $15.00 per person. The way he paints a picture with his gift of storytelling, and how welcome he made both me and my husband feel... I cannot recommend this "tour" enough. Kenny is absolutely fantastic- to the point where if/when we come back to Zuni, we will be taking one of his other tours. The depth of his knowledge, his openness to sharing, and his communication style make his tours a one of a kind experience.
