This is a must visit, don't leave here without a couple of boxes.... Excellent Port wines and the Merlot is a definite. Good Brandy and Whiskey can also be tasted here... Personnel friendly and knowledgeable about their wines. I'll be back....

Boplaas tasting @Red Berry Farm George : A must if you are in the Garden route! Was really a nice experience! Great wine, delicious cheese platter, great service and a beautiful venue. Rozanne, thank you for the personal touch and sharing more information about the farm (and the wine☆☆☆)! Will definitely be back with friends.

Being a big fan of port and fortified wine we especially stayed over in Calitzdorp on our way back from the Cape. I was quite disappointed with the tasting experience at Boplaas though. Apart from the other party present that included a very pregnant lady and a small boy running around all over the place (know it is probably not Boplaas's responsibility - I just found it very strange to see small children in a tasting room), there were 2 ladies handling the tastings, but the other couple had both's attention. Finally after standing around we were asked what what wanted to taste and because there wasn't really any guidance or a 'process' to the tasting we basically picked a few wines that we knew already (feeling rushed, standing around, small child still running around) and left. No real interaction or conversation/background info about the wines, etc was given. It was a pity, we were looking forward to a more sophisticated tasting experience.

We visited Boplaas recently on the way through to Rooiberg Lodge after having been to another local wine farm and the difference was chalk and cheese. From a wonderful welcome at the previous farm where the hosting was friendly, personal, relaxed, informative and delicious we went to a crowded impersonal room with no ambiance no seating and limited service. The wines are good but it is a struggle to get to taste them and there is no information imparted with the tastings. I read Platters Wines which I had with me to be able to decide which wines and ports to try. Having visited this wine farm before some years ago where I remembered a more relaxed tasting experience this was an almost unpleasent experience. The wines and ports are good but I for one will not bother with the farm visit again thank goodness for online sales. A far cry from the wine farms in the Cape and some other Karoo farms where one can taste the wines with a platter in a comfortable location.

It is always so much nicer to come wine tasting and shopping here than in Stellenbosch and Franschoek as the owners and staff is friendly and down to earth. Here you feel welcome and not out of place between people who are competing in who is the most posh. In addition, the wines are actually even better here! The ports are of course famous but the wines are just as delicious. I always leave with a box or two and will always return when in this end of the world... Boplaas is by far the best of the Calitzdorp wineries, although the other ones are not bad either, especially some of their dessert wines.

Found this place by randomly driving past, not expecting a lot from this small wine farm. Was the most wonderful visit, such friendly people, so generous with the wine tasting with such affordable wine. All of the wines were delicious too! We ended up buying about 18 bottles of wine!

Boplaas produces great wines and the service in both the tasting room and bistro, while attentive, is unpretentious. This is what I like about Calitzdorp and its wine cellars.

The lamb curry was really good, but it's just tables with some umbrellas, and I think they could really make more of it being on a grape farm.

We visited this establishment with my wife's parents, when we arrived the tasting room was very busy so we decided to have something to eat at the bistro first before going to taste.

The food was great and the service good.

After food we went for a tasting, the room has a nice vibe and the staff was friendly.

I would have enjoyed a bit more of a structure and explanation of the tasting and wines, as well as maybe having some biscuits or crackers available to cleanse the pallet between tastings.

Overall a great experience, the wine is very reasonably priced and they have some beer, whisky, gin and brandy as well!

Highly recommended!!!

Thank you for visiting us recently and sharing your memories with us. Thank you for the wonderful rating and the positive feedback. Although we strive to make every visitors experience a memorable one, we are not always able to give the attention and tell our wonderful stories in full in the busy season. I would recommend you come and visit us again in the off season and then we are able to give you more information of our lovely wines. Kind regards Boplaas Family Vineyards team.

We spent the afternoon trying some lovely wines in the nicely cooled tasting rooms. Situated in walking distance from the Port-wine guest house.

Thank you for visiting us recently and sharing your memories with us. We strive to keep all clients cool and refreshed with our tasting room experience and especially our products. Thankfully Boplaas is situated close to a few guest houses in Calitzdorp that makes it very convenient to come and do a wine tasting and lunch at our Stoepsit Bistro. We hope to welcome you again soon. Kind regards Boplaas Family Vineyards team.
