The New Mexico Route 66 Museum is cool place to see a bunch of classic cars and some of the Route 66 history. The museum is very affordable and staff is friendly.

Saturday morning at 9 a.m. the museum was open! We were the only visitors as it is winter and there are much less visitors. The volunteer taking care of the museum was happy to show us the cars which are in a remarkable condition. Also...More

Tucumcari was the greatest surprise on our southwest tour with its fabulous murals and main street vintage motels and diners. At the end of that street is the NM Route 66 museum, just behind the 66 monument, where we wanted to conclude a visit to...More

When I visited in April, the museum was open from 9AM to 1PM three days a week. Don't know if that means they can't get enough money to support them or that it just isn't a very good museum

Not a large museum, but free and it had some nice classic cars and Route 66 memorabilia. Nice photo ops in front with the statue and the classic cars inside.

This is a small museum and is free to enter. Lots of photos of different parts of the mother road. It is only a half an hour visit at the most but still worth a visit.

Great little museum. The video is very interesting and gives you a great idea of Route 66 back in the day.

Lots of neat photos and cars. Also contains other interesting memorabilia. Check out the slide show in the Chamber of Commerce building it is attached to.
