Aug 2021
was going to leave early but I needed this location for my US 66 "passbook: so I delayed my departure only to find that whoever put out the flyers all over town about it opening at 0800 doesn't go and actually open it at 0800 and it wasn't open at 0830 either so I left town disappointed. good job whoever runs this place.

Gem on Route 66
Jul 2019
The Tumcumcari Historical Museum is a gem easily missed while travelling Route 66 but what a find, some many items to see especially the F-100 super sabre in the back garden it was being treat to some repairs while we visited, well worth a visit.

Full of interesting stuff . . .
Aug 2019
This museum used to be a school house, was used as a soup kitchen in the Depression, was also used by the military and was a hospital.
Full of interesting and fascinating artifacts from all its representations and identities.
I never knew there were so many types of barbed wire (all patented!) plus a piece of original water pipe made out of hollowed tree trunk.
If you're visiting Tucumcari it's definitely worth a visit.

Lots of antiques!
Jul 2019 • Family
It was interesting to see all the antiques collected in this old school house. However, more information on some of the displays, especially in the large rock collection would have been helpful.

A delightful experience

This is a museum that really qualifies for the name; it chronicles the history of the area so thoughtfully and completely that it leaves no questions unanswered. The artifacts and memorabilia on display are so interesting that you'll overstay your visit!. You'll come away with a good memory of Tucumcari.

DONT MISS THE BEST SMALL TOWN MUSEUM
Jun 2019 • Couples
We stopped to get gas and drove down the street and saw this museum. I have never seen such a diverse collection of old pieces. this town has a fantastic history and the items tell a story of the formation of the railroad, Conchas Dam, mining, fossils, Native American pottery, military room, just about everything you’d expect from a vast collection of antique and historical pieces. DONT MISS THIS!!

Very Interesting Place!

Very quaint museum full of history. This small town that gets passed up now with the demise of old Route 66 is rich in history and this is one of the best museums I’ve been in that showcase such. Worth a visit!

Pretty cool little museum. Volunteers very nice and knowledgeable of local lore. Unfortunately, they have an F-100 A fighter aircraft that is an embarrassment to our military and those that flew her while serving America. Vandals have access to it, and have trashed it. A sad end to a beautiful aircraft. This doesn't speak well for an otherwise nice little community museum.

Great museum.

At five dollars entrance each it's a bargain. We visited on a Saturday morning and spent a pleasant couple of hours walking around. So much to see and really lovely passionate and friendly staff. Well wort a visit. We also bought a hand made wooden car made by a retired gentlemen here to $20.00 which would sell for at least 80 dollar's in a retail shop in a city.
If in town I highly recommend a visit.
