We spent one night at the Mabel Dodge. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but this is a unique spot; not for everyone. It is rustic and old, so be prepared for creaky floors, etc. It has a spiritual flair; it is NOT a typical hotel or B&B! But the hosts are very kind, the complimentary buffet breakfast is AWESOME (we... More

I stayed here on a work trip because I saw it on a list of important places to visit as an English major. I have been very impressed. Not only is the house and the surrounding landscape beautiful, the people friendly, the breakfast fantastic (although only offered from 8-9), the history deep and full of intrigue, but it was also... So glad they were able to preserve the home and several other homes built by Mable and Tony. Touring the lower level was a real treat.

We were the only ones here when we visited, and that was so cool. Dennis Hopper used to own this house, so there was Dennis Hopper stuff, but the highlight for me was reading about Mabel Dodge Luhan and getting to hang out in this historical place with such an amazing history. We walked in, and a lady from the... More

This home has a rich history, and nice dining room. Artifacts and photos from the original era are interesting. Meeting center seems to be the focus of their operations with guests rooms .

After having read most of Mabel's books, I was privileged to visit. The history of this place is incredible. And it has the most amazing kitchen I have ever seen. I recommend visiting this home to anyone interested in Southwestern history. Well worth the time.

Ms. Luhan did more than anyone to bring artists to Taos and put it on the map as an important center for American art. She was also an intrusive, unwelcome admirer of Tao area Indians in a way they found culturally insensitive. Very complicated person. I guess we all are. Go and see for yourself.
