Really nice hike! There are lots of people and lots of dogs (many off leash). Also the altitude will make the hike up harder than you may think. The lake itself is very shallow muddy bottom, don’t plan on swimming. The Bevarian restaurant is at...More

The hike up the mountain is a good length, even though the climb up is not my favorite part, the views and the breaks looking for marmots made it a good time. At the lake take the time and energy to continue a bit further...More

The lake - not for boating or fishing - is clear with beautiful surroundings especially for hiking. Its about a 3+ mile hike and popular. All ages and dogs, too. There's a small water fall and take time to enjoy nature. Be aware of the...More

The hike up proved to be far more scenic than the view at the actual destination (William’s Lake). The lake was extremely underwhelming and crowded. It was definitely not worth hiking eight miles for.

My wife and I hiked the Williams Lake trail and loved every minute of it. It’s a dirt road up to the trailhead but don’t be afraid, our Nissan Sentra made it. Elevation will get you if you’re not used to hiking at 10,000 feet....More

We did this hike June 3 and there was still too much snow for a Florida girl. This made the going tough in tennis shoes and without proper gear. Still, we did it and were rewarded with the view of a beautiful mostly frozen lake...More

Despite it being early summer, the trail was still covered in snow. It added to the difficulty, but did not detract from the natural beauty. Be more prepared than we were, and you'll have a good time.

Beautiful hiking along the Rio Hondo through beautiful pine and aspen forest to lovely alpine lake set below the towering Wheeler peak, the highest summit in New Mexico.

My husband and I took this hike the week of Thanksgiving prior to the ski area at Taos opening. The town was empty and quiet. The trail is about a mile past the ski resort heading up the mountain. In the winter you will definitely...More
