This museum is in the original house. It is still setup with some of his furnishings. I believe the lady that was working the counter said she was Kit Carson's great-granddaughter. There is also a small gift shop in the front of the house.

Parking was a little limited. Museum was ok but not a must see. Staff was friendly. AC was not working very well. The museum had a short film prior to entering. It is close to the other sites in central part of Taos.

Beautiful courtyard and enjoyed the movie about Kit Carson. We're looking forward to seeing the other surrounding buildings that have yet to be restored.

This small museum packs a lot of information and history into the authentically restored home of Kit Carson and his family - and is well worth your time while visiting Taos. There is an interesting 20-minute video as well as several rooms of artifacts along with a nice gift shop. Check their schedule of events of lectures and other activities.... More

We were greeted by a helpful lady who worked at the museum. Due to the age of the house it is not handicapped accessible. She let us try to maneuver his wheelchair through the house before paying for our visit. We were able to accomplish this and enjoyed our visit. The documentary and artifacts were interesting. It is definitely a... More

This attraction is located just off the plaza and is very well done. The high light of the visit was the video that was crated by the History Channel. This home has a wonderful gift shop with many great books and gifts for children. The home is very small, only three rooms but is loaded with great information. Kit and... More

Very nice home and museum of Kit Carson. We really enjoyed The History Channel's documentary on Kit Carson prior to walking through the museum. Many thanks to the Mason's for preserving Kit Carson's history.

For many of his contemporaries Carson was a larger-than-life frontiersman. This little museum introduces visitors to the real Kit Carson. Over time he was runaway apprentice, Indian fighter, trapper, guide, devoted husband, doting father, and local businessman. All are evident in the excellent twenty minute video, and in exhibits in the Carson home. The displays are limited, but through the... More

I love anything about the Old West. It was fascinating to learn about Kit, his 3 wives, his children, his scouting, his height, the courtyard. I loved the movie and tour and would recommend it to anyone. Very informative!

An inexpensive and interesting stop on our Taos vacation. After a 15 minute video presentation wander freely through the four room home. Then, drive over to Kit Carson Park to visit the family gravesite.
