Really fun way to spend an afternoon. Our boys were able to get right by the track and a jockey even gave them his goggles! Be careful with the food, though. Our chicken tenders were completely raw in the middle.

Even if you know nothing about horse racing, you will have a fun afternoon at the track. Have lunch and make a few bets. It is a blast.

This would be great except for the cigarette smoke. There is no where to get away from it. Also, the more often used finish line is on the infield side so you are quite a ways from the action which is a bummer. It is also getting a little run down and needs a good overhaul.

It was. We were the winning bidder on a Lunch Package for Ruidoso Downs obtained at the Lincoln County NM Humane Society's Fur Ball! We had a great time at the Turf Club and watched 10 of the 15 scheduled Quarter Horse Races that were qualifying events for the FUTURITY scheduled this Labor Day. The service was good & the... More

Had lunch at the Jockey Club yesterday. It was our first time there and we had a blast. We are staying at the Ruidoso Motor Coach Ranch and they give you a pass to get in free and also free valet parking. Not a bad deal! Anyway we had the fried chicken livers and the chicken salad stuffed avacado. Excellent!... More

...that is what Ruidoso Downs Race Track used to be called. Lots of things to like about it. Free seats. Free parking. The shade on the grandstands gets wider and wider as the afternoon progresses....and the shade plus Ruidoso altitude and amenable climate makes RDRT a nice downscale track...and perhaps my fave anywhere. They also serve good green chile cheeseburgers... More

This is kind of a " minor league " racetrack with thoroughbred racing. Many of the races are only 300 yds. The more normal length races ( 5 or 6 furlongs) are unfortunately run on an interior track where it's tough to see much of the race from the lower( general admission) level. Those who have never been to a... More

This was such a fun afternoon to go watch the Horses race! It was really fun getting to bet on the horses once we got the hang of how to bet based on the horses, the jockeys, and the trainers! Best thing is you can bet as little or as much as you want, so it made it fun for... More
