My husband and I booked a ride for our wedding anniversary on September 2nd for Saturday the 17th and when we got there they were closed! I called the day before to confirm our appointment and it went to the machine and the message said they were closed for the season. I figured it was old and they were out... More

My bestie since 3rd grade and I come to Ruidoso every year with our hubbies and we look forward to our annual trail ride every year! This year did not disappoint! The trail guides are always fun and entertaining, great with kids and adults alike. There are other trailrides in the area but Grindstone is A+++++++++ Beautiful views, reliable sweet... More

My family and I just rode here for the second or third time. It was as amazing this time as it was the last. I'm not sure why the last reviewer felt it was boring...there are views the entire way around the trail! The lake, the mountains, the town. It's breathtaking. The horses are extremely gentle, but not nags. They... More

OK - riding horses is something that one does not do often.... Now, I remember why. In this case, there are two aspects: Rider experience and Horse experience. As to first, about 14 riders are loaded on a very tame and gentle horse (this is good); then taken on a fairly mundane trail up the side of a fairly steep... More

What a wonderful time we had! Called for reserved time day before and their # was busy for a while but I kept calling and got through after a few tries. The trail was wonderful, the horses were well trained and the wranglers were awesome. One of our wranglers was Sonora and she was a bubbly very knowledgeable young lady... More

Visited every year for last 6 years! The horses are sweet and gentle. My littlest kids have ridden since they were 3 and get to ride by themselves when they turn 5. The wranglers are awesome at they're jobs and so helpful. Love being able to ride the same horses year to year!

I took my grandsons both first time riders. The younger boy took one look at the horses and said no way. They let him try a horse out in the paddock first. One of the cowgirls led him on the trail for a short way before he took over. What started out as tears turned into the biggest smiles ever.... More

You can't beat the views on this trail ride, and the guides are some of the most friendly, helpful people in Ruidoso. From putting the horses in the best order for their personalities, top matching them to the experience level of the riders, these prior know their stuff and make you feel comfortable from the first introduction. This could easily... More

Our group included seniors, adults and children (aged 7 and 11) and a great time was had by all. The staff and guides were wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable. All the horses were perfectly selected for all ages and the guides helped our grandchildren who had never ridden horses before. The trial up the mountain was so scenic and the ride... More
