We visited Red River for the first time. Booked a trip to Goose Lake with New Mexico Adventure Company. They use Ford F-250 trucks with 4 wheel drive and fitted with 3 rows of bench seats and seat belts. Trey was our driver/guide. We had an absolute blast. It's a very rough trail and you definitely want to pull that... More

Take a camera, a jacket, and a flashlight for exploring the mining caves along the way. There are water crossings depending on the time of year and weather. Sheep dot the mountainside at the lake and the chipmunks and marmets love peanuts! Take firewood and build a fire to gather round and meet other outdoor adventurers!

We have been 4-wheeling for many years and are used to rough trails. This one seems to be especially rough. We were wondering if it was going to be worth it and luckily it was. There is a beautiful and oh, so peaceful lake at the top. Don't forget to look for mountain sheep!

Great trail for experienced riders, not for the faint at heart. Don't even think of taking less than a four wheel drive or OHV. Full size pickups will have trouble due to narrow passages.

We rented a side by side and traveled up to Goose Lake. It was an amazing view. The road can be a little sketchy because only one vehicle can pass at a time, so sometimes you have to pull over to back up to let someone pass and it's on the edge of the mountain. As long as you are... More

A thrill of a lifetime. Very rough and bumpy, but so much fun. Ask for Trey as your driver/guide. He was great.

Fun trail, beautiful scenery, historic mining camps...even the occasional mule deer and mountain goat. Young children were not so much enthused. But none the less, a great outing. Will do it again in the future.

We LOVE goose lake!! With that being said...the journey to the top is not easy. The trail is rough, narrow and unsettled in areas...4 wheel drive or motorcycle is the best way to get there. Been going to Red River for 50 years, and enjoy taking "newbies" to see the beauty of goose lake...it never disappoints!

The road to goose lake is very rough. Definitely takes a 4wheel drive. Not for the weak stomach or those with serious injuries. I have back problems and made it but it was tough. Once you reach goose lake you will forget the aches and pains and the rough road as you gaze upon some of the most beautiful of... More
