About
Each of my full day custom photo tours will start around 10:00 am and run roughly 8 hours (weather permitting). Half day tours are also available and run roughly 4 hours. Each tour will begin and end at my studio in Taos. (To begin tours in Santa Fe I will charge a $50 fuel fee for the extra drive between Taos & Santa Fe). There are no specific photographic abilities required for these tours other than a general knowledge of the workings of your camera and wanting to go out have some fun. If needed I will be available to help you better understand the use of your camera. My intention with my tours is to show you the wonder and beauty of Northern New Mexico and have you go home with some images that you would want to hang on your wall. If you have some specific locations that you would like to visit, contact me for customized tours and pricing.

We did a full day tour with Steve in July 2021, stopping to photograph at a variety of places between Taos and Ghost Ranch. Steve shared his considerable knowledge of the area and provided valuable technical advice with composition and the histogram. He designed our trip so that we did small hikes rather than challenging longer distances. He is enthusiastic about black and whites, and pointed out the lighting and contrast features that would make good images.
We felt as if we had spent a really good day with a friend. We highly recommend doing a full day with Steve.

My husband and I took a half day photography tour with Steven and we were thrilled with the experience. I'm a relatively experienced photographer, with my own style, and was mostly looking for location inspiration and composition help. My husband is less experienced and was looking for some help with settings and technique, in addition to the rest. Steven took us to some wonderful locations around Taos, and was able to guide my husband as well. He was also awesome company, giving us some information about the area and acting as a great your guide. I highly recommend his tours, and will call him for a full day experience if we visit Taos again.

From our photo tour experience on August 31, 2015. My wife and I took the Abiquiu-Ghost Ranch Tour.
I divided my review into five most pertinent categories, and came up with a rating of 5/5.
1. Professionalism. Steve started out with some discussion about my own level of experience and then helped me fill in some of the gaps in my own expertise. He loves to talk photography and encouraged follow up discussion on my questions.
2. Expertise. I found, as an experienced photographer, Steve could help me improve my settings (even though I was using a different camera and lenses from his) and point out some good angles for my own photos. In the end, I felt like I came away with memorable, quality photos, which I would not have matched on my own.
3. Spots off the beaten tourist path. I don’t think you can read enough guide books to find all the spots we visited. If I were driving on my own, I know I typically would drive right past great views because I do not know where to stop or how to access the most strategic vantage points.
4. Manner and attitude. Steve has a laid-back, easy style, and very knowledgeable about everything around Taos, which made the day fun; but seem to go by too fast! It was like being with an old friend. He’ll even take your typical “We-were-there-tourist shot” with you in the photo, if you like. My wife is not a photographer, but enjoyed it all immensely as a “ride along,” taking in the views, exploring, and engaging in lively conversations.
5. Generous tour. We arrived back a little late from the tour, which I felt was a testament to Steve’s generosity of time and expertise. He obviously wanted us to see and do as much as possible and take the time we needed to explore, have fun, and to get the best photos. Bottom line. If you love making photos, and want to see this beautiful area, I highly recommend this Steven Bundy Photography tour.

We did a private day tour Santa Fe to Taos, and a 1/2 day tour in Taos. Steve was an excellent guide. He knows the best spots to visit at just the right times. We got to see an amazing amount of NM landscape and monuments in a short time.

I was going to be in the area and wanted to take a tour with someone who could show me spots that I never would have found on my own and hands down Steven did this! I arrived at 10am and we were off and within 5 minutes of leaving we found the first of many great photo spots. The locations just kept getting better and better as the day went on and while 10 hours seems long, the time flew by, and I enjoyed every hour of the tour. Steve is a very friendly guy and we talked about other things besides photography. He was great at pointing out some tips and even some suggestions on composition. He also made it clear that this was my tour and we could stop any where that I wanted and stay as long as needed. We stopped for lunch, his treat per conditions of the tour, at a great place in Abiquiu. We then headed back out and continued the tour until sunset. Even though sunset was a let down, the tour was not. If you are in the area and want a great photo adventure, contact Steven. You wont be disappointed.

Wow! Best tour I've ever taken! I told my friends this tour was going to bring my photography to a higher level and I was right. He changed my whole approach for the better. My non-photographer husband enjoyed the tour quite a bit, as well. It was a treat going off the beaten path, photographing sites that are not on the map…and very relaxing. My biggest wow was the night time photography lesson. I have some amazing shots thanks to what Steven taught me. Steven is a lot of fun to be with, very knowledgeable (including correcting the settings on my camera), knows the area well, knows how to set up a shot & explain it well, has great insight, very patient and did I say fun to be with. By the way, the next morning after our tour he pulled up besides us while I was doing my morning walk-a-bout photography of downtown Taos. I jokingly asked if he was checking on my aperture setting. I hope to go back some time and take another one of his tours.

Pia. Thank you for the great review and nice words. It was a pleasure meeting and spending the day with you both. I am glad to hear that I was able to help you move to the next step in your photographic endeavors too. It is always inspiring to me to hear that I was able to help clients understand more about their cameras and for them to find the fun in using it more fully. I look forward to seeing some of your images from our day together. Funny that we ran into each other the next morning. I hope to see you both again real soon. Steve

My mom and I had the privilege of spending the day with Steve on his photography tour. Not only is Steve an amazing person and photographer, but his tour is as well! It's completely customized to your needs/wishes, and his knowledge and love of New Mexico just makes for an incredible experience. I am so, so, glad I found his site and signed up for the tour (I hate to even call it a tour -- after a day with Steve it feels like a friend was taking you around for a visit!!!!).

Steve took us on an excellent shooting adventure. I would have never thought we could get to some of the places he managed to find. The Rio Grande River Road was special and we spotted a herd of bighorn sheep which was really nice. The osprey seemed to be rare and I got a couple of nice soaring shots. Flickers were great. Then off on another dirt road which was a state highway! We traveled to the sanctuary - El Santuario de Chimayo. Steve lined up a couple of perfect locations for pictures that I now realize I’ve seen in magazines and pamphlets - beautiful!Great day that went too fast! With our next return, we’ll be calling Steve for the next photo adventure.

Steve took me on a 1-day tour around Abiquiu, Plaza Blanca, and Ghost Ranch. He is a patient teacher with a gifted eye for finding "the perfect shot" in places that would otherwise be easy to overlook. The highlight of the day was when the clouds broke and we hiked around Plaza Blanca, photographing the stunning rock formations. Whether you're a smartphone shooter or a pro with a fancy DSLR, Steve can adapt the tour and help you to capture the beauty of New Mexico. The photo tour with Steve was definitely a highlight of my visit to Santa Fe.

For someone who is starting out in photography, I found Steve to be an excellent teacher. He was very patient with me in tutoring me on the techniques that I needed in order to improve as a photographer. Steve is very knowledgeable of the Taos and Santa Fe area.
He is very professional and for anyone looking to take a photo tour or to become a better photographer, you will not be disappointed. I hope to take another tour with Steve in the future and see some of the other areas of we were not able to get to. I would highly recommend Steve's Photography Tour to anyone that is visiting the Taos area and who is looking to become a better photographer. Thanks Steve for your help and hospitality.
