The cave dwellings are fascinating! The rivers and trails are awe-inspiring. Bring the right shoes so you can just walk across the river and find the trail on the other side. It's so worth it.

Going here to hike is great, because you can leave the city in just minutes and be in the wilderness. We hiked the turkey creek trail finding cool rocks. Little bit of a drive getting in, 4x4 to Turkey creek is highly recommended.

The road thru the park is stunning but very curvy with some good hills to climb. The tall pines will take your breath away.

The Ponderosa savanna is so overgrown with trees that much of the wildlife that used to inhabit the area have left. Warning, do not try and travel that road in winter. You might be stuck there until spring, even if you have four-wheel drive.

It's hard to beat the Gila Wilderness for scenic beauty and solitude. This where you hide from the IRS! Lots of great trails, like the West and Middle Forks of the Gila River. Get out there and enjoy it.

I hiked up the Mimbres River trail. The first approximately four miles of the trail was clear and easy to follow. After that you start entering the area that was hit by a wild fire about four years ago, and the trail is very difficult...More

It's amazing to explain to family that even though we're going to drive from El Paso to this location, the last 45 miles will take almost 2 hours. The road from Silver City to the Cliff Dwellings is amazing, I'm hoping to do it again...More

The most beautiful place we have every been to. Absolutely gorgeous. We vacationed here and there was no end to the things to do and sights to see. The only negative was our stay at Lake Roberts Motel.

The Gila Wilderness and Cliff Dwellings Natl Monument are an amazing joirney into nature and the past. The short hike across bridges which crisscross the river is punctuated by sightings of native flowers, lizards and multi colored butterflies flitting across your path. As you reach...More
