We stop at coas every time we are in town. We love that they keep the store credit on the computer so it’s ready for us when we get there. We buy cheap books in good condition at yard sales then trade in for what we need for homeschool at coas. We love it here :)

I've looked far and wide, from the east coast to the west coast to everything in between, and this is it, the greatest used book store around. I'm sure there are larger ones in New York City or LA, but for a smaller city it's incredible. They have so much it's overwhelming. Of course nothing's perfect. It can be a less fun experience in the hot summer months, the air conditioning there is quite terrible and it can get really stuffy inside. I usually go either earlier in the day or during the cooler months. This trip today it was so incredibly hot inside that I just cut the trip short for (literally) cooler pastures.

We were very impressed when we arrived at the store. There is a collection of antique books, a maproom, CDs, DVDs, and a great selection in many areas. We have seen it rivaled only the Peachtree bookstore in Atlanta, which carries similar items. My husband and I spent a couple of hours poking around and buying a bunch of books. Will definitely return!

I don't typically review shops or stores, but Coas Books deserves special shout-out. It is a very big used bookstore in a very small city. The range of material is impressive -- everything from vintage maps, a huge selection of Southwest fiction and non-fiction, and scads and scads of other books of all types, CDs, DVDs, etc. Don't stop with just the first room or two, because the place keeps on going and going and going. I made off with about seven or eight vintage mystery paperbacks for under $10 in less than an hour -- and probably could have spent at least another hour or two poking around if I'd had the time. If you're a book lover and anywhere near Las Cruces, you don't want to miss this place.

I had heard about this place and since my husband and I were on a road trip to Carlsbad and Alamogordo, we added it to our intinerary. We loved this place!. We stayed for 1 1/2 hours, but we could have stayed longer. This is a used book store that has about a half a million books of all kinds. My husband saw a book that he had in law school in the 80s. I was mostly in the mass market section and there was alot of books of varying quality. Nothing ripped but they have been used and all the covers are still on. They will take used books for a discount on the books you buy. We will be back!
