Obscura is a good name. Full of strange and interesting art. Far from the typical art galleries, it is worth a visit to widen your horizons!

I highly recommend Art Obscura to anyone passing through or living in Las Cruces. Every time I visit there's some new antique or collectable with an interesting back story to ogle in this sparkling clean store. Make conversation with Deret, the owner, and he just might have something not on display you might like more. Better yet, he'll keep an eye out while he's looking for treasures for something just for yourself. With every visit he shows me something new that I want cause he knows what I'm into. In addition to vintage portion of his establishment there's the gallery/art aspect. The work is coming from locals and is often overlooked until now. Thanks to Art Obscura the next generation of artists from the area can shine.

Went out of our way to visit this place as the online info says it was open, but on the door is says it is closed Monday-Wednesday. Meh... call ahead if you want to visit i reckon.

Each visit to Art Obscura I notice something I missed the last time: from electric landscape paintings to cheeky buttons and magnets, this store is FUN! The best part is the way the old and new are paired side by side: carefully curated collectibles from years past right next to the freshest, never-before-seen art made by emerging professional artists. When you go, don't forget to go upstairs for even more art and antiques!

This engaging artspace/antique shop has become a staple of the local art community, with professional exhibitions of eclectic artworks on rotational display monthly. A wonderful place to find the perfect gift for picky friends and family. It's been made even more inviting with the addition of The Hood -- featuring collectible cars and motorcycles, art, objects, apparel, oddities, jewelry, memorabilia and more -- in the back of the building. Now there are two great reasons to visit!

Deret, the owner is a graduate from NMSU where he was an art major. He has created a wonderful space for upcoming and well known artists to show their work.

Yes, the Art Obscura Gallery is quirky! Yes, they showcase local artists in their two floors of gallery space. Yes, they always have something that evokes emotion or a memory if you hunt around in there enough. But, wait! They also host Poetry Slams every couple of months and have regular Art Openings with a Food Truck on site. You had better get on their Facebook page or you will be missing out. I love this gallery.

Sort of out of the way, maybe just not my taste- I was hoping to see more local art and antiques. Felt like college art really funky- maybe interesting to look at but not something I'd hang on the wall. Not many antiques at all.

So many interesting things/art to explore packed into a small place. Some of the best stuff is upstairs, "hidden" away in a tiny room. Take your time with this one, folks.
