Tonuco peak has a little known canyon with many interesting Petroglyphs and a relatively easy approach, although there are a few steep rock faces to cross. On the opposite side of the arroyo from tunoco can be found an old Indian grinding site with holes ground into the stone.

Tonuco Mountain is located between Las Cruces and Hatch NM. The mountain has several good hiking trails with views of some very good petroglyghs and also a nice mine to explore. The views from the top are great.
