About
The Bath House, built in 1876, is on the National Register of Historic Places. Water issues from the spring at 159-189F. Some water is diverted into holding tanks overnight to cool so that bathers have control over the water temperature. We have 8 oversized cement tubs; they are private & individual so no swimsuit is required. We also offer wraps and massage. Visit our newly renovated Gift Shop for wonderful gifts & souvenirs.

On Dec. 26, 2002 my husband Jun and our two kids, Niki and Marty along / my Aunt Jeanne headed for the Jemez Mt. area from my Uncle John's place in Albuquerque. We were interested in seeing the beautiful scenery and also in checking out the hot springs. We'd never seen any up close. We arrived at the bath house and were told it would be a 45 min. wait to soak in the tubs for 30 min. We walked across the road to Los Ojos restaraunt and Bar and ate lunch while we waited for our bath. The food was excellent as was the atmosphere, very rustic and serene w/ woodstove and fireplaces glowing . The tub was a little different than what I'd expected. I guess I thought you could actually sit in the hot spring itself. From what I understand that can be done at other hot springs. Back to the tubs, they are concrete w/ 2 levers, hot and cold. You will definitely need cold added. There were mats in the bottom of the tubs and all but 2 of the tubs were completely private. My husband and I used the room w/ the 2 tubs. The room was very quaint, it had a curtain to provide privacy and had beautiful soothing music playing in the background, Towels were provided as well as a rich scented liquid soap for washing(wash cloths were provided also), bags of herbal bath soaks were available for 5.00.) I thoroughly enjoyed the bath and plan to visit the bathhouse again someday. I will stay a bit longer next time to recieve a full body massage and linger to read some of the many books for sale at the bathhouse. Also, there is a library at the end of the little strip.

Charming Jemez Springs Bath House is in the little hamlet of Jemez Springs on the reservation. There are mineral springs and spa where, one can go in stressed and come out feeling like a new human. There is a small shop with neat little novelties. I will go back often for the marvelous soak and float.

This bath house is a wonderfully unique experience in a quaint mountain town, nestled in the red rocks of the southwest. The bath was private, rejuvinating, and great if you like to control your temperature. The wrap was amazing and very theraputic, and essential to maintaining a balanced state of mind and body. Overall a great place!

I have enjoyed many soaks here in the past but today was a total flop! The person that checked us in forgot to have us sign the waiver. Our baths were interrupted so we could we sign. We were told our bath time would be adjusted by 15 minutes. My tub stopper broke and when I asked for assistance I was given a tool to fix it myself!

Our time was not adjusted and we were told that our time was up 15 minutes short. When I asked if the adjustment would please be verified. I was told "no it wasn't adjusted and your time is up". At checkout I handed the woman the tool I was given to fix my stopper and she just gave me a blank stare and offered no apology or explanation. I was told that Sandy was the one that checked us in and she was already gone so the two women present pretty much called me a liar.
Why would I lie, why would I have their tool and better yet WHY would I ever go back????

I'll try the other bath house next time and let everyone know about the horrible treatment my niece and I received today at the Jemez Springs Bath House.

I booked a package that included a tub soak, an herbal wrap and a massage, then booked a facial afterward. I arrived early so I was assured of getting in on time. My massage therapist was late and by the time she started she was 10 minutes past the start time. She did give me the full 60 minutes but because she was late the rest of my treatments were delayed. She seemed to spend more time moving around the room and getting her chair situated than working on me. After the massage was my tub soak, then an herbal wrap. I asked what herbs were used in the wrap and was told there were three or four essential oils. I couldn’t smell a thing, I think they need to make it worth the price and not be so sparse with the oils. When I was done with the wrap I checked my watch and noticed 10 minutes had been shaved off the soak and wrap in order to get my facial started on time. I paid for a 25 minute soak and a 25 minute herbal wrap, didn’t get the time promised to me. The facial was the best part of my day as far as relaxation, but when I got to my hotel I noticed some of the products used were in my eyebrows and stuck to my neck. This was a special treat to myself and between the shortened time with no compensation at the Bath House and a disappointing hotel I don’t think I’ll be back.

I am fond of this place; it is simply relaxing without any pretense.
First warning: it's not posh. This is an old bath house from the 1880's run by the community of Jemez Springs.
Big over sized tubs, hot mineral spring water.
Very good staff, sets things up for you. Bottles of water, towels.
You can do just this or add a herbal wrap. Same attentive people misting your face and placing cool cloths on your forehead and neck.
You can add on a massage of different lengths. By the time they were finished with me, my legs were too wobbly to walk well.
I like massages, spas and hot springs. It's something I seek out when traveling.
This is a favorite; it's not a fancy place, it provides a place of rest and relaxation with very good people.
It is affordable.

Definitely go for the package, which includes a soak in a tub with water from the hot springs, an herbal wrap and a massage for about $95. In Santa Fe, you would pay more than that for just the massage!!

The tubs are old, but I think that adds to their charm. There are hot and cold water spiggots, which is nice so that you can adjust the water temperature whenever you want. The herbal wrap was fun, you are on a table totally wrapped, except for your mouth and arms. The massage was nice.

My husband and I went together and we really enjoyed our time there. It took about two hours for the entire experience. I think the setting of the Jemez mountains and the quaint little town added to the experience.

Visited the Jemez Springs Bath House on a recent weekend visit to Santa Fe and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. While the facilities are definitely historic, the original tubs and building add to the charm and provide an authentic New Mexico experience. The Jemez package (hot bath, herbal wrap and full body massage by Sonia) was excellent and the various treatment stages were appropriately paced. The staff was friendly and attentive but not intrusive. Unlike other experiences I've had where modesty concerns were either ignored or got in the way of the experience, the opposite gender staff maintained the appropriate balance in the compact facilities. I will definitely be back when in the area and will recommend the experience to my friends.

Unlike its next-door neighbor, Jemez Springs Bath House offers individual bathing in no-frills indoor tubs filled with one’s chosen mix of hot and cold mineral water. Apparently the cold water is also mineral water that has been cooled overnight, so one gets to bathe in 100% mineral water.

The place is basic, very much looking like it was back in the early 20th Century. The cement tubs look old but clean and the complex is closed once a week for deep cleaning.

Prices are very reasonable and allow pretty much anyone to bathe in the same location where reportedly Al Capone used to bathe.

The young chubby girl didn't even try to make us feel welcome. The introduction was very short and she clearly wanted to get it over with. The guests in the next booth got checked on and were brought water. From another host. Our chick came to check on us and 30 seconds later said it was time. Attitude... why. Not looking fondly back on the whole experience.
