Black Mesa is a high-desert links style layout that weaves its way around and over sandstone foothills on the Santa Clara Pueblo located thirty minutes north of Santa Fe. Designed by Baxter Spann, the course opened in 2003 to numerous accolades...more
Being from Illinois, I guess I'm easily impressed by interesting topography, but this place is off the charts. I think fifteen of the 18 holes lack any evidence of civilization other than the green grass. Snow peaked mountains in the distance, fall colors, steep cliffs...More
Green fees were reasonable with available tee times. Course in good shape but there are a few moles burrowing in places. Course is tough but very rewarding. The staff is extremely nice and very helpful. This course is a MUST play if you love golf.

I played there July 2nd and 3rd of 2018, and I am pleased to report that it is well on its way back. It is...More
Always play Black Mesa on our annual New Mexico golf visit. The somewhat rough edges do not bother me as much as some - partly because this is a big hitter's course. I regard it as challenging, but fair. Each year it is in a...More
I have been a great fan of Black Mesa for years, and believe it is a very special course in one of the most dramatic settings anywhere. Because it is such a unique venue, I have tried in recent years to "support" and play the...More
