Today, June 21st, 2016, we traveled from Las Cruces to visit the museum which was suppose to open at 10:00 a.m. We came in after having lunch and found that the gates were finally open so we went in. Finally a lady came out and right away telling us about they had a board meeting and could we come back later. She didn't even acknowledge us as visitors nor expressed any interest in us at all. As soon as we walked out, the gates were closed behind us like we were intruders. This poor treatment is disgusting and unwarranted. We will never return. They can keep this museum for themselves and the town of Cloudcroft also. Most unfriendly place we ever visited.

My wife and our 4 daughters stopped in here while staying in a nearby house for a week. Though clearly a small town operation on a limited budget it was a surprisingly well done and expansive view of the history of Cloudcroft and the turn of the century old West. Frankly the fact that it was a low budget operation made it all the more intimate. We were eligible for a military discount but did not take it; we preferred to not claim it and thus make an extra 'donation' to help their operations. So it was $26 for the 6 of us. They had clean restrooms and a very modest gift shop..

This is a charming small museum. The grounds were beautiful with lots of exhibits. A wonderful place to take the kids to gain a historical retrospect and appreciation of how people lived back in the old days. From what we gained, living in the Sacramento Mountains was challenging, but we could see how it shaped this village's character. Check it out! There are numerous artifacts from the 1800's to the 1950's, including old military uniforms, an old fire truck, caboose, and Mescalero Apache artifacts.

Well worth a stop!

Visited before Halloween! They have all the grounds and inside several of the historical buildings and caboose staged as the best haunted village! It is open for this event the two weekend evenings before Halloween. A must see! The museum and grounds bring the history of the mountain communities alive. A real look into the past with outstanding exhibits that depict daily life in bygone eras. Take a trip through time.....

Many look upon Cloudcroft as a ski destination, or a spot to escape summer's heat for a few days. The museum provides the background for how and why Cloudcroft exists at all. It gives an in-depth view of life at the time of of the area's development and exploitation. Good way to spend a few hours, and become more familiar with your vacation spot.

Nice little museum that chronicles the history of the Sacramento Mountains. The Halloween setup is very fun for the whole family but a bit pricey for what you get.

Enjoyed our time perusing through the authentically presented regional buildings. Barber shop, blacksmith shop, rail car, beautiful Chapel in the Woods, homes & soon to be available schoolhouse. Great pictures & history in main building

We have been coming to Cloudcroft for many years & have never visited this museum. I am so glad we stopped to see this wonderful place. There are many buildings that you can go into plus read the self guided tour materials all for the low price of $5. My favorite was the church & they are adding new school building that we couldn't tour. It includes a rich history of the area with memorabilia. It is a must see if you visit this area very often. Loved it!

I was impressed by how much the Village has improved the museum. There are more buildings and exhibits than the last time I went and everything is nicely kept. The new 16 Springs Schoolhouse is a great addition which I think schoolteachers will really enjoy seeing.
The gift shop has some interesting materials for history buffs. The fee was only $5.
