This picturesque pass is 3325m above ground and is decorated with countless prayer flags.! You'll definitely drive through this pass enroute to Bumthang.
Worth a quick stop for pictures, and a bonus if the weather is kind.!

A Pass to cross after some hair-raising & challenging windy road presently under construction till 2018-2021. Beautiful view on a clear day. Weather turn misty on our return journey which became mystical. Awesome with the mist & howling wind.

Nice stop to stretch your legs and visit with the vendors set up here. The yaks are not friendly here either. We had tea and rested for about 30 minutes. We were literally in the clouds surrounded by fluttering prayer flags. The scenic views between the clouds, the gate and yaks made for some more very nice photos.

Helloo.
Yutong La pass is one of the beautiful and picturesque pass you will find while travelling to Bumthang District in Central Bhutan, from Trongsa. Nestled around the mountains and dense forests this pass lets you to have an wide look of Bhutan mountains ranges and remote villages. You will find Bhutanese ancient style homes along the road with chorten and prayer flags all around. The whole Valley looks so beautiful and it will make you to stop there for long hours. The winds are very ferocious and sometimes it gets too cold. From here you will be able to see the balck mountains of Central Bhutan.
If you plan your journey beyong Punakha or Wangdue Phodrang, then you will definitely cross this pass. I wish now road conditions are good and you will have a good time there.

About one hour drive from Trongsa. Normal mountain pass, with Chorten and prayer flags. View is not bad but not as spectacular as Dochula.

Lots of construction. So very dusty and messy.

Like all passes in Bhutan, Yutong La is marked with prayer flags & a chorten. The wind can be quite fierce here due to the altitude. The road was being widened when we crossed Yutong La, & therefore, there was a lot of dust.

Situated at an elevation of 11237 ft. A huge gate, a Chorten (Stupa) in the center of the road and several colourful prayer flags marks the place. Though it is only a few feet higher than Pele La, the weather here was quit different. The fog rolling in from all sides and a chill in the air created an eerie and mystic atmosphere around the place.

There are dozens of chorten in Bhutan and whilst it is in a nice location the chorten itself is disappointing, but it is currently being renovated, improved. Hard work to get there given the road, so worth a quick stop if only to give the driver a break!
