Visit to Shadow Play House
Mar 2021
This was truly an eye opener. History of puppets well preserved and displayed. Also some musical instrument and other antique stuff. Khun Suchat's daughter took us on the guided tour and also demonstrated how the puppets and other art work on leather is made. Sadly we couldn't make time for a shadow puppet show. They have some beautiful puppets and other artwork for sale, value for money.

Overall a fantastic experience.

Simply a Must Visit
Apr 2019
Visited with family whilst staying in NST. A super place showing the art of shadow puppetry from its history, the making of puppets and the superb show that they put on, outstanding. Uncle Suchat Shadow Puppet House is not only the production source and distribution place of the shadow play and the grand shadow play, it also provides demonstrations in the shadow puppet house. Moreover, the area is divided to be a museum to exhibit the local appliances and the international shadow puppet museum.

A Must Do
Mar 2019 • Family
Hardly known; even by locals. Shadow Plays are a part of Southern Thailand culture. My seven year old Thai/English son was fascinated. Some "souvenirs of a high standard at rediculously low prices. There is no enterance fee but you can leave a donation if you wish.

The place was so serene and calm befit its artistic place..as the only one about Nang Talung puppet show by the great master, the late Mr.Suchat Sapsin. Please help it to sustained because it is free entrance.

Far more interesting than the temples
Nov 2018 • Couples
I have lived in Thailand for a little while so have seen my fair share of temples, so they get a little same same. This museum was far more interesting with alot more information in English than the temples I have been to in Nakon. The wife of the son was wonderful and explained to us the pictures of the artist meeting the Royal family and what Mr.Subsin accomplished. He is highly revered for continuing an old craft by keeping it alive through passing on his teachings. The lovely lady also showed us how they make the shadow puppets, but she also makes these beautiful pieces of artwork more than worthy to hang on your wall. I would highly recommend this little museum to take a glimps into Thai history and culture. It was truely fascinating and highly commendable.

Insight into a Artist of National Reknown
Aug 2018 • Couples
Visited the large temple nearby and it is a relatively short walk using google maps from here. We were greeted by the artists daughter and shown the museum and she demonstrated some of the techniques used to make the puppets. Nangtalung puppets are rarely seen in the south now so it was very interesting to visit. It is free to enter but a donation is requested and there is an opportunity to purchase. It is a pleasant surprise rather than the usual dual pricing. Would definitely recommend.

Worth a look
May 2018
It was interesting to see the evolution of the shadow puppets and how they came to Thailand. Also the ways they changed through the ages. The lady showed us how they are made and how the leather is prepared. An interesting hour.

Authentic shadow puppet arts of the south!
Jun 2017 • Solo
Here is just a few place in the country where still perform the authentic shadow puppet arts. Here established by the National Artist named; Suchat Sapsin, the same name as the play house title.

I enjoyed visiting a small but authentic, traditional home of Thai shadow play master, late Mr. Suchat.
