Cry your eyes out Angkor!
Oct 2020
This nine hundred year old Khmer temple is as large as its Cambodian cousin. The descriptions of the different items of interest are in good English as well as Thai. Pricing - 100 baht for foreigners, 20 baht for Thais grrr. But Angkor will cost you US$37 so big saving.

Phimai UNESCO khmer ruin
Jul 2020
This world class UNESCO site is a must to visit in the middle of the small Phimai town.
Located in korat province and just 12km east of the main Route 2 road it is easy to visit by car. The car park is small. The impressive 900 year old ruin is quite large in a well cared for park. Entrance 100thb.

Stunning little historical park! Worth a stop!
Jul 2019
Not as big as Ayutthaya or Sukhotai, but well worth a visit. The temple is just stunning! Phimai was an outpost of the Khmer empire and that is why the temple was built in Khmer architecture. Also, I learned there that Angkor Wat was inspired by this temple in Phimai! How very cool!
Recommend visiting at any time, especially in the late afternoon as there are fewer tourists. Also, worth stopping and having a walk around Phimai, it is rather cute itself.

This is a huge site, older than Angkor Wat. Its amazing how people back than built the site without today"s technology, machine and knowledge! Good for kids!

Ancient History of Thailand
Jan 2020 • Friends
Been visiting parks, sites and other tourist spots in Thailand and this Phimai Historical Park really catches my attention. It was beautifully preserved though some areas have been ruined due to its old age but nonetheless it is really worth to visit and be able to learn and know the history of the site.

Well worth the trip
Dec 2019
The ruins at Phimai have inevitably been reconstructed by archaeologists, but well done. The ruins date back to around the 12th century, the wider area having of course been built over in the intervening centuries. The ruins do contain a lot of architectural and historical interest if you keep your eyes open; sadly, the Thai visitors appeared more interested in photo opportunities for Facebook!

Worth the trip out.
