This point is a landmark of Korat city that has it all. I've been there during the day, it's very hot and sunny. This time, the plan has changed. sleeping in the room Let's go to a coffee café first. Then take the queue to pay respect to Ya in the evening instead. Beautiful light, cool, easy to walk, not hot feet, better than coming during the day.

A Thai Boudicca who led the people against Lao invaders 200 years ago, 'though unlike the British heroine, she survived. Rightly she continues to be honoured by the people of Nakon Ratchasima. The statue itself is in front of one of the old city gates on the square moat surrounding the old city.

The famous heroine who defeated an invasion army from
Laos 200 years ago and saved Thailand from defeat. The monument situated just 1km south of route 2 in the middle of the large city is a must see. This famous ladies statue and the small park is well kept and very interesting for a short visit.

a nice remerberance for a piece of Thailand history, placing the incense sticks and flowers, I have seen the celebration on the Ya Mo holiday and with the whole region and villages dancing it is a culture spectacle I enjoyed,

Inspiring story, the devotion of the faithful is impressive. Large crowds kept a somber vigil at this revered place.

This monument is to a local heroine of a couple of hundred years ago who saved the city. If you are Thai and live in the area - my Thai daughters in law knew nothing about her - and want to gain merit, go there. If you are a farang, you'll wonder what the heck it's all about!

An important place to show respect to Ya Mo and to see how Thais show respect. Look out particularly for the shrine performers who will play for those who pay them.

The area around the monument is good with shops, food outlets ect, the monument is nothing special, but it is what it represent to the Isan people that makes it special to the local's, but as a Brit, would not go out of my way to visit, just happened to be in the area
