Batura is a whole valley visible only by one day trek from Passu

Batura valley used to be the summer high ground & pastures of people living in Passu village. It has stunning landscape for serious outdoor activities and not recommended for kids. It is a winter Ibex hunting place but summer is nice and warm. It is the only pasture in world where you can find tap drinking water. The tap water project is courtesy of German women who donated the price because her Dad died climbing the Batura sar 25,574 feet / 7,795 meters in 1970s while she was in her mother's womb. Since it is a long trail potters are required to carry food/tents etc. Day 1: Passu to Yashperth >> approx 8- 10 hours >> First couple of hours takes you from Passu to Yunz, part is steep, rocky, sandy. Next couple of hours are Batura black glacier ( the white glacier trek is also an option but more dangerous). This is tricky part on rocks and debris on glacier. The path continuously changes as glaciers keeps on melting, moving etc so definitely need a local guide for this. After crossing glacier and trek of hour you will reach a hut designated for tea stop. Final stop will be Yashperth, which is a pasture with beautiful landscape. Day2 : Yashperth to Guchesham >> approx 5-7 hours >> This day you will explore in depth the valley of Batura by visiting different pastures till you reach Guchesham. After every half hour the landscape changes so be ready to absorb nature at its best and your camera has enough charging. Day 3 : Either trek to Lupdor or back from to Yashperth : The Lupdor trek is around 4 hours but i have not visited it. I went back to Yashperth. Day 4 : Rest day in Yashperth. Enjoy the Wifi free & Email free life and get to know how many stars you can see at night with naked eye :) Day 5: Get back to Passu from Yeshperth. The return is comparatively easy and less time consuming but don't do it too fast or your joints will start feeling the pressure of gravity and get stiff.

Batura Glacier is one of the largest and longest glaciers outside the Polar regions. It lies in the Gojal region of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Before starting your Trek, make sure your shoes are ok, it's a long hike over the glacier till you reach the first resting camp. Take the basic camping necessities like camps, sleeping bags, food, etc. One can always hire local porters who can carry your weight untill 20kg to 25kg. It takes almost 9 to 10 hours to reach Yashpirth where you'll find shepherd houses to rest for the night. Next morning you can continue walking for almost 6 to 7 hours to reach
Guchesham, stay there for a night surrounded with beautiful peaks and glacier. Next morning, final Trek to Lupdor which is the end of Batura Glacier, it's a small trek of 4 to 5 hours. Trekking back to Yashpirth can be done in a day, rest overnight and back to passu village. Batura trek can be done in 5 days but of course one can stay as long as they want. Breathe taking views, beautiful Yaks walking around, very peaceful and life changing experience! summer and spring time is of course very beautiful, Winters can be little harsh. But if you love cold and ice, you're more than welcome :)
Happy Trekking!

This is a great but strenuous loop hike starting from Passu on the Passu Glacier side, ascending a steep, exposed at times trail up to the Yunz Valley, across the Yunz Valley, descending down to the Batura Glacier morraine and proceeding around to Janabad, or what is a new settlement in north Passu. This hike as a complete loop is about 19 km and does require some route finding skills. Beautiful views of Passu and the Passu Glacier on one side and stunning views looking up the Batura Glacier.
