I was looking for a place while staying in Seminyak to do some yoga and came across this place. I couldn't find out many details, so just went there early around 7:45 am as I had seen someone else write something in a review that there was a class somedays at 8am. So we turned up about 10 minutes early, there were already others there. The class was on at 8am so we decided to stay and do it, even though it was the advanced class (intermediate 111 class), as we have already done hot vinyasa flow for sometime. It was very good and there were certainly people there that were seriously good!!! The instructor Olop is very good and is very precise in how the poses and movement should be and we were given assistance and guidance by Olop and other very experienced yogis in the class, some of which also teach yoga. I thoroughly enjoyed the open air area experience, which is also covered. All the equipment is there and is quite specific to this style of yoga, which was somewhat new to me. I would say give it a go, I wasn't disappointed, lovely garden surroundings in this hidden spot and a very experienced teacher, with a sense of humour also. The are so many misquotes, so make sure you wear insect repellent or it appeared there was also some provided. I will be going back for sure, so much to learn with yoga! I have attached a photo of the current schedule, which I wasn't able to obtain prior, but please only use this as a guide as I have no idea how often they change the classes. Classes are 2 hours but allow a little longer for the whole experience.

As an Iyengar Yoga student, I jumped at the chance to attend a class while on holiday in Bali. I was only able to attend one class as I wasn't staying nearby, but I would have loved to go to more. The studio is beautiful and fully equipped with the usual Iyengar yoga props ( including mats, belts, blocks, blankets, bolsters, chairs, rope wall, tressler and backbender). Olop is a senior teacher in the Iyengar Yoga style and can cater to complete beginners, students with experience in other styles of yoga, as well as Iyengar yoga students of all levels of experience.

I confirmed the class timetable by email with Olop before the trip. As at July 2015 the timetable was as follows:

Beginners I & II: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 4.15pm-6pm
Intermediate I & II: Tuesday, Thursday 8am-10am
Intermediate III & Advanced: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8am-10am.

I found this yoga class on trip advisor, and looking at the amazing reviews, i decided to give it a go.
First of all, i am a begineer in yoga, i have very minimal yoga experience. I made sure that Olop ( the teacher) aware of that
Classes started at 4:15 pm, nice ambience. Crowd was good.
The positive :
- Olop is very very experienced in yoga
- Nice yoga studio, open air concept
- They provide nice equipments ( mat, blocks, belt, pillow, etc)

The negative that i experienced is solely based on my review as a begineer in yoga.
- the class was very fast paced.. and when i was trying and struggling to do the yoga poses.. olop was actually correcting me in a half scolding kind of way. And that happened few times. So instead of making me feel encourage, i actually felt pressurized.. The japanese lady (his assistant) also gave out the smirking smile whenever i did the pose wrong..again.. not encouraging.
- I came in with a mindset that yoga is suppose to be a relax and peaceful experience, but it felt like a military camp instead. Olop was yelling and giving out instructions and explaining, and i was struggling following all the instructions.
- We were doing the shoulder stand pose, and i didnt feel like pushing myself to that extend because i was worry about my cervical spine. But instead, Olop was pushing me to do the pose...i was very reluctant and i tensed out..and now i can feel that my back pain actually paining :(
All in all, i left the place feeling horrible..
I guess this place is suitable for all of you who experienced in yoga, but for begineer maybe not the friendliest.

Although it was a bit hard to find at first but it was worth the effort because the classes are only small (only enough room for about 20-25 students). Olop does not advertise and he'd prefers to keep it that way. Most of his students are regulars and a few of us were passing tourists.

It's a very relaxed environment despite occasional geese screeching and loud motorbikes passing, the studio has idyllic surroundings and beautiful song birds.

You can arrive about 15 min before class starts, set up all your props (provided at the studio) then relax/stretch out before class starts. During the class there are helpers walking around to help you with your poses. After the class you pay or cross your name off, and have some nice spicy chai tea and a chat with Olop and other students. Very nice.

Highly recommended if you are looking for a small, personalised Lyengar Yoga class in Seminyak.

Unfortunately Olop was not in the country when I visited his shala however the teachers who filled in were wonderful and made it a very personalised experience. All props and mats are provided with provided after while everyone is paying. Next time I go back I will try and catch Olop!

I highly recommend visiting and gaining experience from these highly qualified teachers. You always pick up little things from someone new :)

Classes are still as indicated below. The easiest way to find this shala is to head west along Jl. Raya Basangkasa/Jl. Keraton, take the first left after Jl. Abimanyu/Jl. Nakula (has a temple on the corner) onto Jl. Drupadi 1 (it is signposted on the eastern wall and easy to miss). Follow along until you see a large steel gate with alot of '7's painted on it. The gate is only open 30min before classes and closed other times.

There is a little car park inside the gates to the right. Follow the stone footpath to the rear past the house and you will find the open air shala! A 1 shot class is 100k rp while a 10 pack is 800k rp.

You might want to bring insect repellent if the mozzies like you ;) There is a changeroom and toilet there too!

Olop is a great teacher, but even better still are the helpers who walk around during the session giving you personal attention. I wish they had more frequent classes, it was truly inspiring!

I am yoga practicioner and took 3 classes at Olop Yoga Studio while staying in Seminyak - it was a precious experience. Olop Studio is the most beautiful place I have ever practiced yoga in. Olop is so modest and generous in sharing his knowlege. He gave us many detailed instructions and hints while we were in asanas. After the class we were offered tea and sitting all together. The experience is beyond words. It is a true satsang.
