Andries Liebenberg and Piet Krynauw arranged an excellent walking holiday for my wife and me. Some of the days were guided and some self-guided but the accommodation, transfers, car hire and some of the meals were arranged, and in every case we were very well taken care of, indeed. The selected accommodation was all excellent, the walking guides were all knowledgeable and outstanding, and the materials associated with the self guided components of the walk were also great. We visited Cape Town and its surrounds, Somerset West, Stellenbosch and Hermanus. Andries and Piet took components of their walks for each region and combined them into a bespoke plan for our trip over two weeks. Really very good indeed and thoroughly recommended.

Walking Holidays South Africa organises various hikes in the Western Cape region of South Africa, inter alia in the Cederberg mountains, the Cape winelands and the one I had the pleasure of doing, on the West coast, along pristine beaches where seabirds and porpoises outnumber people by far. The self-guided tour over 3 days was extremely well organised, the accommodation superior, and the organisor was extremely attentive and willing to indulge our every whim. We hadn't asked about massages ahead of time, but Andries managed to organise this at short notice. Ask ahead about anything you specifically require, and if it's remotely possible, it'll be attended to. The detailed information was explained clearly at the beginning of the walk, and is also contained in a booklet which can be taken on the walk. All in all , a wonderful experience. Cannot wait to do some of the other hikes organised by this company.

My sister and I did a fabulous, self-guided 3-day hike along South Africa's "Coast of Storms", covering about 50 Km during that time. We carried only a day-pack, while our luggage was transported between our overnight B&B's. The hike followed the most beautiful coastline, mostly along enormous, sandy beaches, where we walked comfortably on hard-packed sand along the water's edge. Magnificent seascapes had us in awe along the way, as did the stunning rock formations. We saw a total of five people on the trail in 3 days. The tour operator was MOST attentive, meeting us at the start of the hike to explain the route and supply us with maps. He checked on us half-way along the path on the first day, offering fresh, cold water and ice and was waiting at the end of each day's journey, to transport us to our B&B. We never felt unsafe, nor in any way nervous about directions. I would recommend this unique experience to any hiker. The company arranges several other hikes in a variety of stunningly beautiful parts of South Africa. We hope to be able to explore them all!
