Great snorkelling experience with the seals. We had perfect weather and the sea was calm. Water about 11°C, but the thick wetsuits made it feel much warmer. Island is sureounded by a kelp forest you can swim in, if you want to. Hot chocolate, biscuits and warm water on the boat were very welcome. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable

Hilda from Hilly Homes, advised me to book a seal snorkelling trip. It was amazing. Everything was perfectly organised, from the instructions at the start to the warm chocolate and biscuits at the end. I can recommend it to everyone who wants to snorkel with the Cape Fur Seals. Thanks Animal Ocean and thanks Hilly Homes!

We ticked an item off our bucket list and went diving with Cape Fur seal at Duiker Island, Hout Bay, a quaint suburb in Cape Town, South Africa. The trip is offered by Animal Ocean, they really made the whole experience awesome. Loads of info on the seals and they have guides in the water with you at all times. The area where we dived is "shark free", meaning that there are no sign of any large sharks (the Orcas have scared all the Great Whites away for the last few years). We spent about an hour in the water after which you are treated to a warm water poured down your wetsuit to warm up, as well as a cup of hot chocolate and biscuits. All equipment is provided for, and the wetsuit keeps you nice and warm in the cold water, although the water wasn't that cold. Highly recommended.... PS: you can rent an underwater camera, with the option of including an SD card

This was by far the coolest thing we did in Cape Town during our time there!!!!! It was phenomenal from start to finish! We got to the place and got into our wet suits then drove a little way (about 5 minutes) to the boat dock. Once we were on the boat, we went about ten minutes into the water to get to Hout Bay (we even got to see dolphins playing in the water on the way out!) where tons of seal were sunning themselves on the rocks. It was a picturesque background for getting into the water and being able to swim with these incredible, graceful, beautiful creatures!!!!! The water is cold but the wet suits keep you dry and fairly temperate (not warm) but, unfortunately, you are only in the water with them for 45 minutes (I could’ve and would’ve been in there with them for DAYS if they would’ve let me!!!!) so the temperatures are tolerable. If you don’t have a GoPro or underwater camera that takes videos - GET ONE!!! You can rent one from the shop there if you don’t have one. There were so many seals swimming everywhere so even if your tour time is full (which ours was) you will be able to get good pictures and immerse yourself in the experience! This is a great company and a fantastic experience for anyone that loves seals and has any interest in seeing them in their natural habitat, enjoying life, and being happy!!!!!

We enjoyed this unique snorkeling very much. It was great to see the seals zooming around underwater and riding the waves. Very well organized and the guides gave clear instructions. Once we were in the water they were very attentive and helpful. I strongly recommend taking dramamine for sea sickness.
