I visited the market with a friend on a Sunday morning. There are some interesting shops at the market but it’s abit small compared to some of the other markets in and around Cape Town. Food selection also limited.
I've been going to the Bay Harbour market for a number of years now, and aside from the amazing selection of food, and a plethora of interesting stalls, some of which I have yet to explore, it's the friendliness and kindness of the stallholders there...More
We have been coming here for many years now on our visits to Hout Bay and enjoy reconnecting with stallholders we know. It has been such a tough year for people here and in this market you will find fabulous affordable presents for you and...More

Thank you VisitorfromWales12 for your lovely review! We are so pleased to hear that you enjoy repeat visits to our market. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!
Vibrant and full of life on a Friday evening. Parking was plentiful and convenient - leave the parking warden a R5 tip to watch your car. Little stores were selling a jumbled assortment of trinkets, art and clothing that would do great for souvenirs. Food...More

Best market to visit in Cape Town? (7 Replies)
So my choices are; The old biscuit mill Greenmarket Bay harbour market (Happy to have recommendations on any others?) I will probably only have time to visit one of them ... so which is the best one to go to?

It depends on what you want to see / buy at the market. Greenmarket Sq is basically African curios, most of which aren't made in South Africa! Biscuit Mill is mainly a food market with stalls offering food to eat, fruit and vegetables to buy. It is very busy! Bay Harbour Market has more non food items. If you want to see a more local market, with mainly food items, then there is Oranjezicht market at Granger Bay on a Saturday morning. I prefer it over the Neighbourhood Goods at the...More

Can you help me organize/arrange my CT itinerary? (6 Replies)
Hello, I am very excited about my trip to Cape Town. I will be arriving at about 10am on Wednesday, June 13th and leaving about 4pm on June 18th. I don’t have has much time as I’d like but I’d like to make the most out of it. I will be potentially renting a car also. Can someone help me arrange all the different points of interest I have below into individual days? I know some of the activities are also weather dependent during that time of year, so I want to be flexible. From my...More

Hi There! Well the good news is it does sound like you have time to get most things done. There are a number of different ways you could go about it but this would be my recommendation for 5 days based on what you want to see (not meant to be sequential - could be done in any order!) - 1. Cage diving. I think most of the operators will collect from the city centre so, depending on where you are staying it would be good to combine this with your evening on Long Street, as long as you have...More

Bay Harbour Market (3 Replies)
We are very keen to visit the Bay Harbour Market in Hout. We are staying in Bantry Bay and have found out that a local bus will takes us almost to the door. We have also purchased HOHO tickets but it doesn't look the bus goes anywhere close to the market? Is that correct? Thank you in advance

The blue route stops at Mariners Wharf. The Bay Market is the other end of Harbour Road to this. I had a quick look at google maps and it says it’s 1km away, so not too far and a very easy walk.
