While the wine is average, the estate is lovely. The cellar is really impressive, and the building has a lovely feel to it.

Pity this platform doesn't allow a negative rating (minus a lot). It is such a beautiful and elegant estate but ruined by rude, ignorant staff that are only interested in their 'master's ' will. We arrived wanting to enjoy the views and surrounds and a great bottle of wine. When we asked the staff for a bottle and two glasses... More

Situated next door to Leopards Leap this is the sister vinyard run by a different branch of the same family. The tasting rooms are set in an extremely pretty garden setting. The tasting itself was well organised and presented by a knowledeable somalier although personally, I found her attotude a bit snooty. The wine was good but a little ethereal... More

I was entertaining an Australian friend from Tokyo that is a travel journalist. We ran out of the previous winery early to get to la Motte before they closed at 5pm. I had told her that in her short week here she should try the wines at La Motte because they were special. We raced there and arrived at 4.43pm... More

Attentive wine tasting experience in a beautiful setting. Nice whites and reds on offer. They also have a museum and farm shop.

This is a really classy wine tasting experience set in a very well decorated and up market cellar. R50 for 7 wines with some very fresh bread (the charge is refunded if you buy 2 bottles). Very well worth the visit, the setting is amazing and the wine is very good, in particular the Shiraz Vigonier.

This is beautiful setting and a fine wine estate in Franschoek. We visited for Sunday Lunch (rebooked and reserved paid deposit on line) . The restaurant has the kitchen visible as you enter. The wines are renown and you can choose from Billionaire prices down to ordinary South African . The Sunday meal is a set three course meal. The... More

We were in Franschhoek for one full day and unfortunately, it was hurricane weather outside. We were delighted with LaMotte because they had a beautiful indoor area where we could walk around their cellar and once we sat down for our tasting, we were near a lovely fireplace. The ambiance was cozy, our server nice and informative, and the wine... More

From the security guard to the receptionist to the wine ambassadors, ever aspect of this estate is EXCELLENT. We so appreciated the kind service, the complimentary snacks and their generous tasting policy. While we enjoyed the wine, it was an experience to visit the museum housing original Irma Stern to works by Pierneef. Do not miss this.
