Almost turned away at the gate after being told that the wine tasting was closed. After discussion, agreed with security that we we could just have a glass of wine if that was the only option, only to find multiple groups still having wine tasting after we arrived. Not offered wine tasting when given menus but latter asked if wine tasting was still available and was told yes! - only to then wait 25 minutes for the menu. Overall, the most disappointing vineyard we’ve tried in Franschhoek.

We called here for wine tasting, one of six that day, not knowing that the winery belonged to Sir Richard Branson. It was the best site that we visited, having a layout and facilities that left some of the others standing.
We were able to have quick look at the stainless steel vats in the production area before taking seats at the wine tasting tables.
We had a taste of 6 wines each (3 red & 3 white) and ordered some food to soak up the alcohol.
A wine expert was on hand to explain the significance of each wine and suggest which food would be best for each one.
The grounds were well looked after and the views were stunning, seeing the grape vines stretching up the side of the mountains.
By far the best winery to visit for me.

Dear TerryH2723,
Thank you for sharing your lovely feedback following your wine tasting visit. We’re very fortunate to be part of the Virgin Limited Edition portfolio and it means a great deal to us to hear that it was the best winery you had visited, so thank you very much.
We don’t take for granted the beautiful views we’re so blessed with here and it’s always wonderful to hear when our guests appreciate the scenery too. I’m delighted to hear you enjoyed your wine tasting and hope you’ll come back to visit us again in the future.

We spent a long time researching the stops and trying to figure out which line to do and also which vineyard to visit. We are so please that we stopped here.
The staff were efficient. However, our waitress did as how much I would be tipping which I thought was very bold and then she held onto my change and said, "how much will I keep as a tip?" The surrounding were beautiful, lovely games area and found out it was owned by Sir Richard Branson. The cheese and meat board was delicious and very well priced. Would highly recommend.

It does take some doing to navigate the back streets of Franshoek to find the oasis that is Mont Rochelle, but its worth persevering because the food (and views) from Miko is wonderful. The portions are reasonable, not overpowering, but attractively served. The service is great, very attentive and knowledgeable. With super views and lovely reasonably priced wines, this is a great place to eat – and there are plenty of games, such as croquet and boules to play afterwards. We had a great time.

Dear 717simonc,
It’s so wonderful to read how much enjoyed your time at Miko and the many plates of food and delicious home-grown wines we offer – not least the abundance of lawn games and activities ready for you to try your hand at.
We do hope this won’t be the last time you visit us, and we’ll certainly be ready to welcome you back with open arms – don’t leave it too long.

We did not stay here, but instead dined at Mike’s. We ordered the tasting menu 9975 rand per person. Great value, interesting food, nicely prepared, beautiful wines. Such a special evening. They even sent a driver to pick us up and take us home at the B&B we were staying at. My husband left his phone in the van and the driver found it, drove all the way back to return it. We were gobsmacked. Highly recommended and will definitely return

I can't recommend Mont Rochelle highly enough. It's always been a highlight of my trips to Franschhoek and this year was no exception. I planned my wine tram route so I could do the wonderful 6 wine flight here. It was a real treat. Everything was just perfect - the friendly service, the surroundings, the great views and the most delicious wines. I'll be back next year.

Amazing accommodation.Thoroughly enjoyed the meat/cheese platter with a bottle of wine on the terrace on arrival. Room 25 highly recommended.Woukd advice not booking the most basic room as the views from the bedroom aren't as amazing.
A visit to the Spa and Haman is a must. Staff spa superb friendly welcoming and professional. The massages were fantastic.
Our visit to the country kitchen on site was fabulous and very enjoyable.
For wine lovers go on the wine tram.

A free shuttle is provided by the Hotel.

One of the best wineries we went to in the region. It was the place we chose to have lunch and we made a reservation in advance. The view is beautiful, you can take beautiful photos and the white and red wines are wonderful, worth the visit. For starters, we ate fried calamari and it was the best we've ever had in our lives. We opted for a very complete tasting of 9 or 10 labels - it was really cool!
The service was also very good!

Very last minute decision to go to Mont Rochelle, but what a good decision it was! We did the gourmet tasting (which is a food and wine pairing) which was absolutely delightful. As very keen and knowledgable wine drinkers, we thought the choice of food with the wine was fabulous and really complementary. And to top it all off, we were served by Derrick, the most vibrant, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and kind tasting room ambassador I have ever come across! Huge complements to him, as he made our experience the best of the day 🤩 Thank you Mont Rochelle and thank you Derrick!

Mont Rochelle is an absolute gem of a 5-star hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in luxury and hospitality. The breathtaking views, elegant rooms, and impeccable service exceeded all expectations. Dining was a culinary journey, with locally sourced ingredients and exquisite wines. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every moment was unforgettable. Mont Rochelle is a true paradise in the Franschhoek Valley, and we can't wait to return.
