Agriculture and a simple farm lifestyle is at the heart of Boschendal. One of the oldest farms in South Africa, founded 1685, the farm has grown with the passing centuries into a cherished source of wholesome produce, great wines and happy memories.

Set in the Drakenstein Valley surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes, lush gardens and vines, the original farmstead complex is now a national monument with a rich and intriguing history of more than 300 years.

Today, Boschendal is a Cape winelands icon and a cherished wine and food destination. Our vineyards and fruit trees have been joined by vegetable gardens and a growing herd of free range, 100% pasture fed Angus cattle reflecting our commitment to serving wholesome farm-to-table food.

Guest accommodation is also a recent addition to the farm with luxurious cottage accommodation ranging from the exclusive and historic Rhodes Cottage built by Sir Herbert Baker to the elegantly restored Werf Cottages.

Cottage guests enjoy access to the entire farm where they can walk and cycle on trails through mountain fynbos, dine under the stars, have picnics and sundowners in exclusive areas, fly-fish in the dams and swim in pristine mountain water.

We had a great lunch at the Werf restaurant which is high end food in a casual environment. Lovely views over their extensive vegetable garden and the surrounding mountains. Everything has been well thought out and it has a lovely atmosphere. We enjoyed the springbok and the beef platter for two. We took a walk around the gardens before enjoying... More

We had friends, family visiting from the Eastern Cape. Took them to the deli had a great breakfast with delicious coffee. Then off to have a horse ride, fhe path taking you through vineyards and along the river is amazing, even the walk through the garden was delightful. Overall it was a fantastic experience creating a lot of memories.

The conservatory part of the restaurant is really lovely as it overlooks the market garden from which the chefs take their vegetables. The whole winery is very beautiful and a must visit place in the wine lands. This is a smart restaurant used regularly by locals and the food quality is very good. The menu is a little limited but... We did a wine tasting and bought two of their wines. Lovely setting and sitting and drinking your wine and looking at the mountain is so special.

A very pleasant afternoon under the trees with lovely wine. Gorgeous views and very friendly staff. Not far from the city of Cape Town and en route to Franschhoek where we were staying the night.

One of my favorite experiences in Franschhoek was visiting this place for lunch. The wines, the food was superb and the vegetables were picked from the garden next door. Amazing experience

We visited Boschendal on a warm winter's day and it was a perfect venue for the kids to run around the vast vegetable garden chasing the free roaming chickens. The wife had a coffee at the farm stall & deli where you can also buy freshly baked bread, organic eggs and fresh veggies as well as cheese and cured meats.... More

Beautiful estate with great views of the surrounding area. Wine tasting, wine and chocolate pairings as well as cheese boards to be had. Friendly staff with a good explanation and guide through tasting, giving a great sensation with the chocolate and wine pairing.

I am so dissapointed in the staff. I bring a lot of clients to Boshendal, and have never had a problem until today. My groups are normally smaller so my clients are allowed the freedom to choose from the different wines on offer. But today I am told by the staff member she does not do it that way at... More

We popped in to show visiting family from Edinburgh the manor house, and stopped for coffee at this new farmshop and deli. A delight. Great friendly service, the hot chocolate option fantastic (create your own from hot milk, chocolate, chocolate spoon and cocoa dusted marshmallow - much fun!) - an interesting delicious products to buy.
