This place doesn't get enough love!

Mike's Tavern is the Cheers of South Amboy. It really is the best dive bar in town. Its the last of a dying breed. The bartenders are charmingly coarse (in a fun way), they tell it like it is and I love it. The locals are friendly. The food, cooked by Chef Keith, is also surprisingly good. Everyone I take there always comments about how good the food was. (I recommend the cheese steaks). Karaoke on Saturdays is also pretty fun, even just to people watch. And the bands they bring in are good as well. If you like playing pool in a dive bar while listening to songs on the jukebox and drinking an ice cold mug of beer then this place is definitely for you and your old soul.

Mike's Tavern is a local place to meet friends, listen to music, and have a few drinks. You can shoot or watch pool. It's not fancy at all, it's actually like stepping back in time as not much has changed throughout the years other than the jukebox. They occasionally have live music and they have events for certain holidays, like St. Patrick's Day or Super Bowl Sunday (since that is a bar holiday!) There is a kitchen that is open, although I have never eaten there. The menu consists of typical bar food: pizza, burgers, mozzarella sticks, etc.
