The absolute best time to spend a week on Long Beach Island (LBI) is from mid September to early October. The Summer sun has warmed the ocean, it is way less crowded and Ron Jon surf shop is in full operation as well as many other popular venues. Best beach experience in NJ. "Down the Shore" was never better!

Cancel the trip to Florida or the Caribbean for that matter. Beaches were spotless, water was crystal clear and warm, and the beachgoers were 100% kid and family friendly. This is a very mellow place to relax and chill. NOT a good spot if youre hunting for a party atmosphere.

All of the LBI beaches are perfect. Extremely clean, quiet, perfect for families. Ship Bottom beaches have Life Guards on duty daily til 5. Easy walk from the beach to the dunes.

Beach never feels crowded since the expansion. It's wonderful. We flew kites one evening after dinner, saw dolphons swim by one day, suddenly all the surfers appeared and we watched them too. Had our own fun on he boogie boards with great waves and except for one day, the water temp was just fine!!! Surprising for July.

Uncrowded the week before July 4th - but might get a bit busier during the full summer. Passes are required, and lifeguards are on duty during the day. Beach is well maintained, little trash, and lots of new beach grass plantings on the dunes

The water was nice and clear, but on the chilly side. Swim between the green flags and surf/fish between the yellow flags. Lifeguards are posted all along the beach. Beach badges are needed, and yes they do check.

Water great but beach access too difficult. Little on street parking. Not good if you are disabled. Good restaurants to eat out for lunch or dinner, little pricey.

A great beach for the entire family. Located as soon as you get on LBI. Lifeguards are normally staffed from mid June to Labor Day and then a skeleton crew the month of September. If you are not familiar with LBI - you should note that beach badges are needed during the summer and that different towns on the island... More
