Ship Bottom beach has been my beach for 10 years. We like that we can go right over the bridge and be at the beach. The life guards are at the beach all summer and weekends in September. I was at the beach today October 3rd and there was still a truck of lifeguards patrolling the beach for safety. October 1st through May 1st dogs are allowed on the beach- so we had to bring our golden puppy for his first visit. There were a few other dogs there too. My husband enjoys surfing here all year round.

Pretty beach, clean water, great waves. You must have a beach tag to get on the beach or a pass. It’s hard to find parking spots

Recently rated #4 out of 44 beaches in NJ! The beach is clean, wide and the sand is relatively soft compared to other beaches. The lifeguards are top notch and will even go into the water on boards if the currents are rough on a given day just to make sure swimmers aren’t struggling. Clean and well maintained.

Ship bottom beach is a clean, peaceful place that I just heard of this year. Its a perfect place to just chill when you want to go on vacation. The beach is very clean and when I was there it was not crowded. There are little quaint shops and tons of delicous restaurants. I would highly recommend.

We have been coming here since our kids became teenagers and too old for the Point Pleasant or Seaside boardwalks.
Very family friendly, clean and never crowded. Every visitor , I have found, to be courteous and clean up after themselves. The lifeguards are all attentive. Plenty of room to play catch near the dunes. There is an ice cream truck that comes by once in awhile. Listen for the trucks bells.
It's a short walk to Wawa for lunch or drinks.
One of our favorite beaches !

Beautiful beach with lots of white sand but no amenities. Make sure that you use a bathroom before hitting the beach as there are no public facilities. With the exception of a brief visit by an ice cream vendor there are no food or drinks available on the beach for purchase. You need to bring your own.
The municipality requires a beach tag to use this beach however there are no badge checkers at the beach entrance. Checkers patrol the beach on occasion and if you are caught without a badge you will be asked to purchase one on the spot or leave immediately. If you plan on using the beach multiple times during the season you can purchase a seasonal badge at a great discount from the municipal building

No public bathrooms however there is public access at the Police Dept.
Need a beach badge-also at police dept.
Some beaches are getting dune replenishment..very steep access getting on and off beach. Something to be considered for elderly people or those of you w small kids who carry a lot to the beach.
Beautiful, clean beaches!

Don't be fooled, the fact that there is no "boardwalk" at LBI and Ship Bottom doesnt mean there's nothing to do. LBI is more of a beach town than it is a beach destination, and as a result, the beach is secluded and purposeful. No distractions, no arcades, no bright lights, no soft pretzels or salt water taffy. None of what you would expect from a typical Jersey shore locale like AC, Wildwood, or Seaside Heights. If you visit here, just prepare for miles and miles of lime green sand dunes wafting in the breeze, bright blue aquamarine water teaming with wildlife, and hours of family fun on a secluded beach. But that doesn't mean there isn't anything to do. Just two short blocks from the beach you'll find quaint eateries and shops, all with a uniquely dynamic and distinguished beach town feel. If you need to pack an entire summer worth of fun into one beach visit, then head to AC or Wildwood and you'll get the beach in a blender. but if you have time to savor a true beach getaway, LBI and Ship Bottom Beach is your place. my new fave on the Jersey shore.

Long Beach Island- Ship Bottom is a great place to vacation. Bagel Eddie has great breakfast items and there is always a line going out the front door. The island in whole has a lot of entertainment to offer for all ages. If you go, you won't be disappointed.

Is the beach pass good for all the beaches on the island or do I need to purchase a pass for every location?
Only good in Ship Bottom. Every town on LBI requires their own beach badge unfortunately

First time to LBI, trying to figure out what beach to go to. Day trippers so we will need access to beach and public restrooms. We like to swim and I hard currents can get rough the more south on the island you go, so i was thinking about Ship bottom. Are there public restrooms and where should we try to park to be near that beach? thank you!!

I have only had a problem once about 5 years ago. Prior to 2012 a few of my summer tenants in Holgate complained. I hear it has not been much of a problem since then.
