Interesting Hiking
Oct 2020
Hedden Park is part of the Morris County Park system. It is a free public park. It derives it's name from the Hedden family who donated the original land in 1963. Today, the park has expanded to 389.42 acres and is a multi-use facility.

The boathouse is located on Hedden Pond and rents boats during the summer. The pond is used for fishing as well. The Wallace and Jackson brook are trout production bodies of water. A softball field is available and well maintained. There is a nearby 150 seat Pavilion with charcoal bbq set-ups. There are male/female clean restrooms in a nearby building. The restrooms also are disabled equipped.

The hiking trails are easy to moderate with a diversity of scenic beauty which makes the hike enjoyable. There where some wet spots along the trail but few and far between. They were short and far between but you could find your way around them. In some areas roots rose to the surface for long sections of the hiking trail. Dogs are permitted. I was surprised how well dog walkers have picked up after their dogs.

Indian Falls was a most interesting section of the hike. It is located on the Green Trail and about a 15 minute walk from the Ford Street parking area. I spent some time photographing the falls. There are two other entrances: Reservoir Avenue and Concord Street. I picked up a map from one of the other Morris County parks but maps can be downloaded on HikingNJ.com..

Best County Park System
Jun 2018 • Friends
Morris County has the best park system. We are lucky that this park is close. You can walk with or without your dog. The same paths can be used for biking or hiking as well. There are several areas for picnicking, bbq. There is a pavilion that you can rent for big parties. There is a big ball field that can be used for softball and if the field is not in use you can toss a frisbee or a football around. One of the hiking trails leads to a waterfall. Did I mention that this park has 3 entrances.1! from Dover, 1 from Mine Hill and 1 from Randolph. Try it, you will like it very much. There is also a very large playground with lots of equipment.

Perfect for day out with family and friends…
May 2017 • Friends
It is a park in the woods. Get there early enough to grab a spot in summer. A barbeque grill is also here with benches around.
This park also has softball field for practice. It does have some nice trails to walk along, and the stream that comes down the mountain is nice to sit by and listen to the waterfall when the water is high.
There is also a Playgrounds there for kids too and a patio which overlooks the hill which is beautiful as well.

Parking is there at various places. A good place to hang around.

Wonderful stream and hiking trails!
Aug 2017 • Solo
Hedden Park is a wonderful oasis with a clean water stream, small lake and several marked hiking trails. Only a few steps from the parking area and you are surrounded by NATURE! The park also has picnic tables with grills, softball and baseball fields. And well maintained restrooms at either side of the park!

Small and low key park...nice for families and a quiet walk for couples.
Mar 2017
I walked along the paths and around the small pond last month. It's pretty nice and quiet, if you don't mind the geese droppings. They're pretty hard to avoid in NJ parks these days. Anyway, the stream is nice to walk along. They have a pavilion that I believe you can reserve for events and I think you can ice skate there in the winter. I used to play hockey there when I was a kid, but that was many years ago. :)

Nice for a picnic or hike
Mar 2017 • Friends
I have been to this location many times. The Morris County Park Comission maintains a great system and this is a nice quiet one. It can get full during summer weekends but is a nice place to picnic. fish, or just enjoy the outdoors.

It was so pleasant, quiet and a great walk on asphalt trails. There's a gazebo with a picnic area and baseball field. There's a small pond for pedal boats.
