Need to get rid of reviews before June 2014. Since its reopening recently after a wonderful renovation, Military Park is a delightful oasis and an inspiring park for individuals and families. Visit and soak up the clean, fresh and engaging atmosphere. Landscaping is top notch. It is truly a phenomenal park in the center of the city.

Neat park in the center of Newark City that used to be a military training ground, hence its name. It has a few notable landmarks, such as a sculpture of JFK and an Episcopal church that is more than 200 years old.

I have gone thru this park 100 times and never really noticed it. Its not really that impressive. To me its just a park in between two roads with a statue in it. I would not make a special trip to see this.

Previous Military Park has always been a place to walk through on the way to NJPAC or the Historical society. Now its a destination unto itself. Clean, pedestrian friendly, and beautiful, I am excited to visit more often. From the reading room (my new favorite part) to the ping ping tables to the yoga classes and line dancing, this space has been transfromed into a community meeting place. I hope that visitors and residents take the time to enjoy!

Pretty nice park, nothing great. activities usually free. Just get out of the area before dark, and always keep a careful watch for crine even during the day.

If you have some extra time to kill in the area would I bother going over to this place. I'm a local & nobody I know goes anywhere near that park.

Another lovely park in the heart of Downtown Newark I enjoy going to. Precovid the summer months there is an abundance of activities and festivals here. And the carousel is a fun ride for all ages.

Last Saturday, I took an one-hour guided tour of Military Park that was run by the New Jersey Historical Society, located across the street from the park. Back in 2006, I had to walk from a nearby hotel and around this park because I wouldn't go through the park back then; it didn't look safe. Then, in 2010, a parks committee started cleaning up the park and reopened it in 2014. What a difference from 2006! Since the clean up, this park offers many activities, and it showcases their monuments better, especially the War Memorial.

This park is located on Broad Street by a bus route and very close to Penn Station (the main bus and train station in Newark). It contains benches arranged for comfort in a well manicured landscape dotted with several works of art. It is also minutes away from several landmark buildings classic as well as modern.
