On Saturday afternoon, we had a wonderful experience touring Burlington City, New Jersey. This was our fourth outing with Audrey Wiggins, owner and tour guide for On the Town Food Tours. The Burlington City tour was a special offering, in part as a fundraiser for a local museum, the Armed Forces Heritage Museum. The tour began at the museum. We then proceeded to a local coffee house for a tasting and a brief talk by the owner about coffeemaking. We had terrific pulled pork sandwiches at The Union House; perfectly made fried chicken and waffles at Taste of Soul, where Ms. Nancy greeted us all personally; and then delicious lobster ravioli at Francesco's. In between there was a walking tour of the town and discussion of its history. Hopefully Audrey will be able to add Burlington to her schedule permanently, to complement her other great tours (we've done Bordentown city, Hammonton, and Mt. Holly). There was a total of eight people on this tour and we had the chance to interact with everyone. This was another great experience and we look forward to booking the next one.

Question - Where can you experience some great samples of American, Jamaican, Greek, and Italian foods along with a stop at a local microbrewery and between stops learn something about the town's history during the Revolutionary War, as well as check out some of what the town's shops have to offer?
The answer is at an On the Town food tour of Mt Holly!
We started with huevos rancheros (with eggs made to order) complemented by a nice but not too spicy chorizo at an established town eatery of about ten years, then on to a long standing very popular restaurant where we sampled three of their delicious soups.
From there, as we walked toward an area of small shops we learned about some history of the town and glimpsed at some buildings dating back to as early as the 1700s, including an old tavern, firehouse, the state's oldest still standing one-room schoolhouse, a colonial government building/jail, and others.
Then, it was time for some tasty traditional Jamaican chicken and rice at Best Taste, one of two Jamaican restaurants in town. The tour concluded with stops at a Greek Bakery and an Italian place for dessert samples and a microbrewery where we could order our choice of a couple of nicely-sized samples from their offerings.
On the Town owner/operator Audrey did an excellent job as always of guiding our group to the various venues, sharing some local history, and providing opportunities to meet local business owners on some of our stops.
Mt Holly was On the Town's original tour when the business began about ten years ago, and currently nine different town tours are offered in three different South Jersey counties. This was my sixth tour with OTT and three of the things that I've appreciated about them is being able to get a nice sense of the uniqueness that each town offers, the well organized and curated variety of eateries, and the chance to support small business owners.
I plan to take another On the Town tour soon!

Jeff, thank you so much for taking the Mount Holly Tour, your sixth tour! Yes, Mount Holly is one of our original tours. One of our goals in doing walking food tours in main street NJ is to help people understand what our small towns have to offer. There are town gems right in our backyards, but many people don't know it. And supporting small businesses is "My Why" - it's why I am doing business in South Jersey and not a big city. Thanks again!

Sometimes it’s best to overlook your first impression. Our first stop (Fruta Mex) on our Mexican food tour of Hammonton was not up to the standards of the other locations. Chicken and beef tacos traditional style were served at the second location (Marquis Mexican Grill) that proudly displays their SATISFACTORY health grade. The refried bean dip was tasty, our favorite of the day, We crossed the street to El Mariachi Loco to the prettiest location of the day for “Mexican pizza”. We will definitely return on our own to try other dishes here. After a brief shopping side trip, we regrouped at Vinyl Brewing Company to sample 2 beers. The tour director picked up chicken mole dinners with rice and beans from Fiesta Mexicana —this meal alone is worth going on this tour! The final stop was back to Frits Max for ice cream.
Kudos to Audrey of On the Town food tours for creating the seamless timeline of the tour, and selecting mostly delicious choices.

Thank you for taking our Hammonton Mexican Food Tour. This tour is unique because it is the only one that highlights just one cuisine. Hammonton has great options for Mexican food. We are glad that you enjoyed the delicious food and drink at most stops. Please send an email to let us know the reason that you were not pleased with the one stop. We would like to learn more and determine what can be done to make improvements.

Thank you to Audrey for a very enjoyable food tour in Haddonfield! It was great to be able to experience samples of good food from a variety of cuisines including Asian, European, and the Mediterranean along with stops at a local craft brewery, chocolate shop, spice and tea shop, and bakery. Having representatives from each of the businesses greet the group and give some personal insights into their food and beverage offerings only added to a very informative tour that included Audrey sharing some of the important history of downtown Haddonfield and its oldest buildings as we walked from one stop on the tour to the next.
Hats off to Audrey for a well-organized, well-run, and enlightening (both in terms of food and locale) tour!

Hi Jeff! Thank you! Haddonfield is very special with wonderfully diverse restaurants to visit, along with plenty to do, and ample shopping. Planning tours and giving people a glimpse of what a small town has to offer really makes me happy. I enjoy being a tour guide and business owner. When the mom-and-pop shop representatives participate in the tour and engage with guests, the experience is even more special. Thank you for noticing the details.

My husband and I went on the Atlantic City food tour on Saturday October 21st and we had a blast! Our tour guide Audrey was phenomenal! She plans out the entire tour perfectly so that you’re not constantly eating. She mixes up the food tastings with art, culture and history. This was our second tour and we have three more booked!! The food tastings were delicious with subs, fish tacos, lasagna and fudge! Such a fun way to spend an afternoon! And you will leave full at the end of the tour too!!

Hi Kelley, thank you for joining the AC-Ducktown District food tour. There certainly is plenty to do in AC, joining the small neighborhood tour of Ducktown is really interesting. All of the restaurant stops are historic and as you mentioned, delicious. Yes, careful planning of shopping, history, walking the boardwalk are in between restaurant visits so that guests can eat leisurely over three hours and enjoy the many aspects of AC. See you on the next tour!!

We did the Haddonfield History and Food Tour. Everything was wonderful from our tour guide, Audrey, to the wine tasting at the farmer's market to the various cuisines we tasted to the brewery and shops on Kings Highway and learning some of the town history. Lots of food from some of the local restaurants and sweets including homemade candies and delicious cupcakes. We did not walk away hungry. We very much enjoyed and can't wait to schedule another On the Town Food Tour!

Great time tonight on Bordentown, NJ food tour with our theatre friends. Audrey Wiggins owner and tour guide made the evening special! 3 restaurant stops and great walking history tour. Started at Toscano Restorante, Old Town Pub, and finished at Under the Moon Cafe’. And a sweet treat from The Candy Jar.
I never realized Downtown Bordentown held such treasures.

So much fun!!! Audrey was the perfect hostess, pleasant, engaging, and kept us on schedule. We will definitely look to schedule more tours with her.
Perfect activity if you have friends visiting from out of town and would like to give them a sampling of some of our area's fine eats!

Hello! I am so happy that you enjoyed our walking food tour. You are right, food tours are a perfect way to enjoy what a town has to offer in food, shopping and history. When the tour is over, you will know which restaurant, bakery or shop locations you'd like to come back to with family and friends. Happy eating!

So I have only good to say about this day. We started out on our motorcycle as the day was gorgeous. Arrived to a yummy start at El Mariachi Loco. We made introductions, I always like when your group has people who are more interesting than yourself.. The walk was pleasant and entertaining. An added stop was to BreadHeads (love the name). A perfect blend of Hammonton's food offerings. Funky Cow Café where the sandwich was all but "funky". Tales of the Olive is a wonderful place to explore and purchase gifts. Annata Wine Bar with their oh so comfy chairs. We ended with coffee and sweets at Casciano Coffee Bar. Our guide through this deliciousness was Audrey the owner and operator of OTFT. She was personable and sweet. Will do this again in a heart beat. Thanks to Audrey, Jane and David x2 for a great day.

Awesome! Thank you for joining us in Mount Holly. Yes, Mount Holly has some really interesting history. The historical aspect of the town is on par with Bordentown City, which is full of captivating history. We try to make sure that the food choices are different and tasty; it's all about trying something new. Looking forward to hosting you on another tour. Thanks again!
