First time at this location. Did not escape (very close though!). Having done over 20 escape rooms, I must say this was a great room with a different/unique rule set than we are used to. At this location with this company you do not have a monitor to tell you how much time you have left. You are made aware of this prior to starting and they explain to you that its part of the challenge (at a location with a different company we weren't told anything). Our game master was great and was very on point with our clues. Their process of giving clues is very unique as well. Instead of speaking through an intercom or having the clues typed out, like we're used to, you have to knock three times on a door and your game master slides a picture clue with a hint on it underneath the door. We asked for a total of 4 clues and all 4 of them guided us in the right direction. The main room was decorated very well (yes there are multiple rooms) and allowed for the first 10 minutes to be investigatory (as it should be). Will definitely be returning to try their other rooms!

Fun night with friends. It was my second time to Adventure Room, both times we had awesome time. Some of the clues where challenging yet doable and the best part is that is private and you are not put in a room with strangers

Adventure Rooms in Montclair was a truly enjoyable experience. The puzzles were intriguing and challenging, but at no point did I feel like our group could not solve them by working together. I also felt that we did indeed need to work together, and that everyone contributed something. It was a really fun experience, and I highly recommend it.

Came here for a birthday celebration with a group of 11 people. We had to split up into two groups as not that many people can fit into one room. We chose this place based on the great reviews. It's sort of like an old office building and they explain the instructions before you start. Your group goes into the room, and there is a timer on the wall counting down your hour. With 6 of us it took us aprox 40 minutes to figure out the clues to our first room (after we finally got a hint) only leaving us 20 minutes to get through two more rooms. We weren't even close to finishing and were really bummed that we couldn't play through. It felt rushed that we were only limited to an hour and it really stinks that you can't play it out if there's nobody right behind you on your tail. The clock countdown was just an annoying reminder that you're fun time is limited. Make sure you look for a living social deal or groupon deal because it's quite expensive if you don't have one. Since I am not familiar with the area I called several times prior to visiting and asked for restaurant recommendations and help planning our birthday celebration and the staff was not very helpful with that aspect so I figure'd I would mention to those looking at reviews that there is a cool bar/restaurant up the road called Egan and Sons that would be perfect for pairing with this venue.

My husband and I went on Sat.day. We didn't know what to expect, but the staff was so friendly and they explained everything to us. It was so much fun. We went to dinner after and we were talking about it the whole time. This is great for date night or for team building or just for fun for a group of friends. We are looking forward to going again with friends.

Went to Adventure Rooms as part of an off-site week long team meeting as a 'team building' exercise. We were split into two separate groups of about 6 people each. The 2 groups had different 'stories' but they were supposedly equal in difficulty. I have NEVER laughed so much and enjoyed a team exercise as much as I did this one. The staff were great - offering us one hint when we got stuck. The puzzles were challenging. Very challenging, actually. Our team finished with about 1 second left on the clock and you would have thought it was a life or death situation when we all busted through the last door.
This was such a fun experience, I'm hoping to find something similar in my home town for my family. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Note: Corso 98 is within walking distance of this location, and they serve excellent Italian food.

We previously played the "Swiss Original" game in the Middletown CT location while on vacation there. We were very happy to discover that there was a location in Montclair which is not too far from home. I took my 4 teen age kids and decided to play "The Remedy" room. We had fun even though we were stumped several times and needed help from the game master to figure out what to do next. We did not escape in time but everyone decided they liked it enough to come back and try a different game next time (which turned out to be just 3 hours later after having dinner at Marzullo's Restaurant right next door). While playing, I felt we were cramped for space even though the company said you can have up to 8 players. I think 6 would be the maximum you could physically fit into "The Remedy" room and play without getting into each other's way.

This place was recommended to me by a friend. It was decided that my group (10 of us) would go there for my birthday. I had the best birthday I've had in quite a long time. The rooms are challenging and figuring the puzzles out was very rewarding. My team of 5 barely progressed into our second room before we ran out of time. From the looks of it, they could probably use more rooms but it looks like space is limited for the addition of more puzzle rooms.
Whatever the case, it's BYOB! :)

Can they accommodate large groups such as 150 teens?

I doubt it - the rooms will hold only 10-12 people at a time, and there are three rooms to get through.
Heading to "Escape the Room", this weekend for a big surprise party. Has anyone done The Forest? How many rooms is it? We have a team of 10. Will there be people added to our group? I've read many reviews and some stated (recently from January-present) there were broken puzzles and a wait time regardless of your appointment. What can we expect? Thank you!!

Hi,
I am not sure where you are going. We went to Adventure Rooms in Montclair and we did the Swiss Orginial. Everything was great there. Adventure room can only put 9 people in one room. So if you have more than 9 people, you can book two rooms and compete with each other to see who resolves the mystery first.
We only waited 5/10
Min before we got the room.
Thanks.
Can you give more specifics to the type of activity this is? Thinking of going with my husband but not the only escape rooms I've read about are ones in the dark and semi scare based. What are these rooms like? What is the time frame for solving the clues?
The time frame to solve all rooms is an hour with maybe a few minutes to spare. You go from room to room once you complete all the clues. Nothing scary about this place. The rooms were well lit. All skill and knowledge based to solve the clues given. And you're being monitored also. Hope this helps.

Hi, do you think this is something that an 8 and 11 year old could participate in or is it too scary? I have young children and 3 teenagers.
Hello,
I'd like to take my wife here for our anniversary as a date night. She is 8 months pregnant. Are there physical challenges that may be too much for her?

Looking for feedback on taking my daughter and group of friends for her 16th birthday. Also, any idea how this compares to the room escapes in NYC?

I'm not familiar with the ones in nyc but i hear some have zombies in the room with you. The one in Montclair was great. It was a group of 10 split in 2 and we all had fun doing it. Your daughter and her friends will have a lot of fun and while you're there join the fun or make it a teenagers vs adults. I hope to have answered part of your question and hope your daughter has fun.
