Not For Seniors
Nov 2020
This is probably a very nice park for hiking if you are able. i remember coming here with my children when they were young and enjoying the fall foliage. But for two people in our late 70s (although able and physicaaly fit) it was much too hard; especially walking along the river were you need to step over rocks and boulders

Beautiful fall foliage
Oct 2020 • Couples
Trails are marked to maintain social distancing. Not crowded and beautiful fall foliage. Lots of benches and tables for picnicking. Ample parking. Good hiking trails. Will definitely visit with kids soon.

Perfect morning hike
Jun 2020
This was our first visit, and we loved it. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. We did the red trail - 2.5 miles, in just over an hour. Next time I will bring some snacks and plan to sit by the water. There are benches and rocks you can sit on at different spots along the river. If you go, be aware that the restrooms are open 11am-3pm only, if they open at all (one sign said they were closed, but other signs posted the times they are open).

Don’t come. No parking! Over a mile walk to arrive

Stay away— town has closed off all parking within a mile. Zero parking, tiny roads, zero reason to go!!!

Native Jerseyian, 1st time visit at peak leaf season. Got there early enough to beat crowds and enjoy pleasant doable hike in beautiful surroundings. Be advised that the maps provided do not clearly mark out trails. Some become very undefined through leafy wooded paths while another becomes rock hopping along the river. It became a bit more challenging than I bargained for. Glad it wasn't wet. It is a great place to bring a picnic lunch with tables scattered not too far into the woods.

A nice setting
Sep 2019 • Couples
Plenty of parking and grab a free trail map by the headquarters.
Nice trails well marked.
Picnic areas are run down and most overgrown, if you want a good one come grab it early.
The stream is stocked with trout and several people were fishing.
It is a free park.

Relaxing hike
Aug 2019
Very pretty and well maintained for easy hiking. Most of it is paved initially. There are several trails that take one off the pavement which is nice.

This park was hit hard by Superstorm Sandy in 2012 and has long since been forgotten by the State of NJ. Though some reviews mention the neglect (picnic areas) as a negative thing, I find it very uplifting to see nature reclaim what it owned in the first place. The trails are quite short for novice hikers and the red trail which is the most difficult (quite easy for me) is average for those looking for more of a challenge. This park being forgotten is what makes it so wonderful. No garbage, no loud, ignorant visitors, and no barking dogs to disturb the nature.

Fun hike
Aug 2019 • Friends
Fun hike with beautiful river. They are dog friendly as well. There are several trails, the red trail is a little more challenging and I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone with mobility issues. Love it here and I hope that you do too!
