About
Just minutes from Manhattan, Field Station: Dinosaurs is a world-class family attraction that combines cutting-edge science with a Broadway producer’s flair to create a one-of-kind experience that’s thrilling, educational and fun. Named “One of the World Best Spots for Dinosaur Lovers” by Fodor’s, the Field Station is trip back in time with over thirty realistic hand-sculpted dinosaurs brought to life by the brilliant engineering of the world’s leading roboticists and the imagination of our paleo-artists. The science and story of the dinosaurs is vividly presented in Bergen County’s beautiful Overpeck Park, on the banks of a scenic creek and surrounded by natural woods. At the center of it all is the fun, the joy and the wonder of dinosaurs. Our expedition takes every family on an adventure – full of mystery, surprise and a sense of awe.

My understanding is that the other FSD has a 3D movie - this has a jumping station instead (if your kid wants to do this, buy the ticket as part of admission ahead of time and save some money rather than pay separately there.) There is also provisions for attraction photos which weren't taken when we were there - we like such things and would have liked to have a souvenir of our time there. Parking is limited when we got there about noontime, had to wait five to ten minutes for someone to pull out (alternative is to park at a field a short walk away.) Many of the dinosaurs move their heads and/or tails. There are also some activities for kids, which was nice. You're allowed to bring food and drinks in, so do so as the canteen is pricey ($10 for kid's hot dog, fries, and juice box.) Our kid spent about three hours there, doing three of the activities in addition to seeing the dinosaurs. Your kid may spend less. Our kid enjoyed themselves, and that's all that matters. Easy on and off I-95 and NJ Turnpike, close to George Washington Bridge.Visited August 2021Written August 29, 2021
- Christine4 contributionsEnjoyable for cooler daysDo not go when it is hot out. Very minimal shade. It was 76 when I went and it was still too hot. The dinosaurs are amazing. The staff is great. They have a spot to fill up water bottles. Food truck prices were reasonable. There are a few activities you have to pay extra for. Thankfully my 3 year old did not notice. I do recommend this park for a cool day. Definitely not when 75 degrees or over.Visited May 2023Written May 27, 2023

Although it reminds me more of a MASH unit, since it looks like it could be torn down and reassembled at a new location in a day, the animitronic dinos are really cool and large! The employees are all kids, presumably college students, but they are all friendly and enthusiastic. The food and gift shop are overpriced, but at least the latter is air conditioned. There are specific learning/entertainment events at specific times at specific tents throughout the day, but somehow they never seem to coincide with where we are on the property. I always thought it would be better if, in addition to letting people wander around at their leisure, the place should offer group tours, where an assigned "archeologist" could take a group around to each dinosaur and station. It would be a better learning experience that way and would avoid the constant disappointments with the event schedule. As it is, it's a pretty cool and fun way to spend a couple of hours outside with your child. Definitely look for the $10 Groupon.Visited July 2018Traveled with familyWritten August 4, 2018

Very disorganized exhibit. The map which was given out at the time tickets were purchased was not easy to follow and the signage in the park was almost
non existent . The scheduled show at the amphitheater which we wanted to attend did not take place and there was no sign saying it was cancelled. I didn't think it was worth the price as the show was inferior to other similar shows I've seen in the new york metropolitan area as well as in other U.S. cities

Grandparents and 3 kids - 9, 10 & 12 years. We bought the cheapest tickets and it still cost us $100+ for NOTHING. So glad we did not buy the more expensive tickets (what does a bungee jump have to do with dinosaurs?). Very few employees. Not much information. The kids were bored; which was so disappointing because they had been looking forward to going. Bathrooms were filthy! What a waste of time and money!

We visited the park with our 6 year old son. Our son loves dinosaurs and this has been on our list for a while. It was a great day trip. Plan to spend 3-4 hours here easily. The shows were the best part. We couldn’t do all shows as some shows clashed. But if you have more time come early and I am sure you can spend the whole day. My son did the Jurassic jump. It was ok. Not everyone in the party needs to buy that ticket. You could just buy day pass for the adults and Jurassic jump for the kids. We visited on a Sunday and it wasn’t too crowded. Found parking easily and shows were not crowded. Didn’t feel rushed and felt the crowd was very minimal. Highly recommend. Disclaimer: My son loves dinosaurs and reads and watches about them so he had a blast.

As an educator I have to say this was the worst experience for a field trip.. First of all, the location is full of mud, the students had wet socks and sneakers, and the bottom of their pants was full of mud. Second, the smell coming out of the bathroom was nauseating to say the least. Absolutely no maintenance provided in those bathrooms. Third, the presenters were disorganized we were there for only 3 hours and they didn't have a plan for the viewing. Overall, this experience is one that we will not repeat for future field trips.

I want to let you know how disappointed I am. I took my 2 kids to the park over the weekend, my youngest one is 2.
We were having a good time at first and went to see the feeding show.
When the dino came in for feeding, he roar an inch from my 2 years old face…now you can imagine how scared she got.
She was sitting on my lap and I did not realized that your staff will do that.
That is really sick to scare a little girl like that. We just left without looking back – we are so upset.
There are so many older kids and he had to do it my 2 years old.
She was so terrified would not stop crying all the way home.
He even turn around and his tail scrape my husband’s head almost hit my son also.
No one advise us in the beginning on what is going to happened and let us make the decision whether to stay or not.
The sign said Feeding,..not scaring..
What kind of children entertainment is this? Its dangerous and my daughter has a nightmares. I want my money back…all of it.
My kids had such a horrible day and you can imagine how my day was.

WORST day of the summer AVOID this shoddy unbelievably unprofessional place at all costs. Dinosaurs barely move at all and make almost no sound. Advertising is deceptive, glossy brochures make it look far, far better than the pathetic reality I regrettably encountered. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID this place or you will regret it as long as you remember the waste of the day. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! With no exxageration this was the worst thing I did in a decade of summers. I took my 13 year old and my 8 year old and they both were quite unhappy at me for taking them. My 6 year old liked it, but for $20 ? I wish I stayed home and watched squirrels run around my yard. I wish I could give it less than one star. They claim 40 live activities ? pshaw.Non entertaining abd non educational. Better programming on TV. Feeding frenzy featuring mighty T Rex ? What a joke! crummiest robots I've ever seen! Lifeless and non realistic. Pathetic.Credentials are useless. Trail map ? Don't need a map to navigate the one sad dusty square where these junk robots are stored. Expedition schedule ? This park invests too much on their brochures and maps to glorify this sad, sad exhibit. Don't be fooled like I was!

Entering the place near opening time (10 am) on a summer day with 3 grandsons (aged 4-6) proved a misadventure. We had groupon tickets and wound up waiting on 3 different lines (as did most folks entering). The wait was excessive on all 3 lines (also no shade available on a warm day). Better info on the process for groupon entry would be sensible! The entrance to the facility seems to be located near a waste/recycling area, wafts of decomposed matter didn't enhance the line waiting experience. The grounds are not well maintained/overgrown with weeds and quite dusty along the trails. The dinosaurs are of some interest, but nowhere near a Disney level experience. The information provided near the dinosaurs is quite limited and not much thought was given to enhancing the visitor experience. The activities don't seem well coordinated (we toured the dinosaur trails upon entry) a "treasure/info hunt" was scheduled about an hour after entry, which essentially required you to revisit each dinosaur station collecting esoteric info from each sign post. Might be more sensible to have this start upon entering the trails rather than retracing your steps? A rather hokey T-Rex lunch fest was had around noon, again, not of much interest to any age level. There was a cartoon provided in a shaded tent along the trail, seemed the cartoon was made in the 1920's and the few visitors in the tent along with us couldn't believe the poor quality of this cartoon (lasting 5 mins or so). At least coo air was provided in the tent. All in all a forgettable experience.

You could run through the place in 20 min without shows. We strolled through with a 2 year old in about 90 min.
