I took an airbnb in New Jersey (. North nergen) we were 4 pers in a 3 bedrooms house, with a garden. It cost approximately 100$ per couple. Honestly the most interesting things to do in New Jersey are food and shopping, only!! Otherwise you need a couple of minutes to New york city by bus.

I often take a walk here after work when visiting Jersey City. It's very peaceful and has the most beautiful views of downtown Manhattan. The park is really just a spacious pier over the Hudson River. It has fixed picnic tables, benches and chairs. In the evening many families and kids visit. Be sure to bring a good camera. I have always felt safe there.

One of the best places to take pictures of the Financial District is Exchange Place and the small Park (in fact its more a pier) at the waterfront.
Take the PATH train from Oculus in Manhattan and leave at the first stop.
Best time to visit, for taking pictures, is for sunset and blue hour. At other times of the day be prepared to have back light. But nevertheless worth visiting any time of the day.

If you want simply the best photo op with lower Manhattan in the background, this is the place. It's very close to PATH Exchange Place, so very easy from NYC. There's plenty of places to sit and chill, as well as some close restaurants (and Starbucks). PATH is your friend. You can walk to Grove street, in JC from here, and catch PATH back to NYC very easily.

From this pier you have an excellent view of the Lower Manhattan Skyline.

Just take the PATH to Exchange Place and walk on to the Hudson side.
As an alternative, you may walk on Hudson River Waterfront Walkway - access between PATH station and Hyatt Regency. This pier is even more down on the Hudson-river

This is the best place to view downtown NYC. Just a quick train or ferry ride from the World Trade Center.

This is a very nice quiet spot to sit and have lunch or just a cup of coffee and relax next to the NY skyline and Hudson River.

Small waterfront "park" with a variety of seating. Highlight is great views of Manhattan and New York Harbor. Great place to sit with a cup of coffee for a urban respite.
